1. Something probably does exist, but you've got millions more options if you go with a seperate octave and fuzz.
  2.
While I believe that what Bill is saying to be 100% true and that one of Alex's Compacts could probably knock my 4x10 into the middle of next week in terms of sound quality and dispersion,
Until you get into a band situation with PA backing and then this whole argument becomes irrelevant
  3.
Don't build a 4x10. It's the poster child for how a speaker cabinet should not be built. Do a pair of 2x10, stack them with the drivers in a vertical line.
What about a vertical 410? The manufacturers of 4x10's must be doing something right or else no one would buy them...
  4.
Was your BSc an 'ology? You're not a scientist unless you've got an 'ology! A
Psychology doesn't count What about Chemistry?
  5.
Why would I want to do a 4x10"? But I agree about the looking rawk thang, v important! Alex
Because 4x10s are the best
  6. There should be a guide on here somewhere about defretting, take a read and good luck
  7. Hi, how old is the cab and do you have any pictures? Cheers
  8. Have a look at the EHX Octave Multiplexer
  9. You could always defret the existing neck, no need for a new fretboard.

    LH 500
Glad you like! Yeah, maybe the amp should just be one 500W power amp with no controls at all save for a power switch. Lovely!
Haha why even have a power switch when you can just turn the bass volume to zero

    LH 500
Another point to make about the volume control - you have AT LEAST two other volume controls in your rig already: 1) on your bass and, more importantly, 2) your fingers. So it's bullsh*t to say that there's not enough control
Why even have an output volume then? I have tone controls on my bass, does that make the amp EQ redundant?
  12.
When I used Trace gear, which I did for 20 years, I rarely had to do much more than a little tweak here and there. For the past 7 or 8 months, I seem to have done nothing but twist EQ controls.... trying to get a decent sound. Am I alone in this? Do I have to go back to a heavy rig to get a sound that is consistant from week to week? Has anyone else had a similar journey?
Same here, loads of tweaking and still can't get my tone with the Schroeder compared to my old ABM410. Don't know whether to replace the neo drivers with proper ones or go for an ABM210 instead
  13. Bump, price drop- £170 posted.
  14.
Bloke from Nirvana - 4th Jamerson - 15th Jaco - nowhere Ridiculous 'poll'.
Thats because no one listens to jazz
  15.
If I plug my ABM500 head into this (500W at 4 ohms, you tell me at 8) will (a) I cook this and ( do you think it will be heard over a very noisy drummer. Mostly for rehearsals I'm thinking as something light and portable would be good. Plus - where exactly is North West (assuming collect is an option)?
PM'd

  21.
I love RATM so much. Possibly my favourite band. And the tone on Evil Empire is unparalleled. "Yeah, we better turn tha bass up on this one!" Alex
+1
  22.
Are you serious, mate?
+1, I think anyone can sound like that with an outrageous amount of envelope.

  24.
I can't believe what I read on TB. The EU folks are dishing out facts, and some people (step forward, Jauquowowo XXXXVVVVMMCXX) are choosing to totally ignore it. I notice one guy posted a comment on YouTube, but it was never approved. I've posted one too, but I don't expect to see it appear..
JACUOIIXIXIIXIIIXXXIIX won't listen to anyone, his head is too far up his own ass. The lengths people will go to to not have to listen to Vic Wooten
  25. Long story short, my friend wanted an Omni 10.5 and has now changed his mind So I'm offering it here as I don't have the space to keep it Using an Eminence Beta 10 + tweeter with two way 12dB/oct passive crossover Impedance: 8ohm Power handling: 300W Top quality components and wiring throughout Weighs around 15kg/33lbs Dimensions (inc corners and feet): 52cm(W) x 39(H) x 42(D) Parallel Neutrik Speakon sockets Internal acoustic damping Finished in black "tuff cab" paint Sounds very clear, plenty of volume and low end considering it's a single 10. Crispy highs from the tweeter which sits just right and isn't overpowering when run flat, and you can dial in more highs to taste with amp/guitar EQ Sold.
