If possible blend a lot of uneffected signal into the distortion pedal. Boosting treble on the bass (also if possible ) would probably help.

Might also be worth noting the heads that do go bang die pretty soon after delivery and are repaired/replaced under warranty - in the long run generally are very reliable Plus built with real components - none of this unfixable surface mount lightweight digital bollocks

I am very happy with my Sennheiser CX300's TBH anything will sound better than the stock iPod headphones
