Option 1 with a low-pass filter inside the cab would work best. Option 2 would mean buying a power amp on top of the new cab and X-over freq would be fixed at 160Hz.

Guitarist is my band has had this in his garage for a year, it powers up OK and does produce sound but there is a crackling noise as you play. Looked inside and seen this brown paper thing (capacitor?) which is the only thing that looks suspect: [attachment=20260:DSC00670.JPG] [attachment=20261:DSC00671.JPG] Any ideas?

Overall good pickup, build quality is OK, massive output - loads of bass though, I have to turn the lows on the amp.

Test an identical amp out if you can. I had (and subsequently returned) a MAG 600 head which, on arrival, had limited volume caused by a faulty output transformer.
