1. Bump with price drop
2. You can not "relic" an instrument
3. No offence but I'm not sure what good sound clips of the cab will be to help you judge whether you like it or not.
4.
i can't understand how they can attach such a price to what is such a flawed design.
Says the man with left handed basses
5. Make a template, clamp it down, go to town on it
6. Bagsy "Mjljljioplklk"
7.
I've used a variety of ashdown stuff on many occasions, I really can't stand it
Don't use it then?
8.
Yeah, bloody stupid. As i said, i asked Ashdown about this, tested 3 other ABM heads in the Bass centre and posted this question on TB (this was about 2 years ago, might even have been three) and got the same answer/result. But ive not really heard of anyone else posting about this so maybe i was just unlucky. It does attenuate quite a bit and until i pointed it out on TB no on had really heard this happening and im sure at a gig it wouldn't be a big problem but i did hear a thump when i plugged my bass in, with the mute button on.
The mute buttons cuts the power section only not the preamp so you can still use the tuner out. Mute on or not you'll still get a thump from the preamp. Plugging in when the amp is already on = bloody stupid
9. I have it switched off all the time, pretty useless IMO
10. Think we should have a thread about sh*t venues to avoid (if there isn't one already)
11.
Most amps reach full power by 50% on the master volume assuming the pregain is turned up to almost clip on loud notes. Generally the cheaper the amp the earlier on the master it hits full power because less experienced players tend to put two amps side by side and then deem the amp which is louder at equal knobs positions to be the more powerful amp! So if you want to sell more amps you skew the volume knob to take the amp to maximum output sooner rather than later. I remember a lot of Trace Elliott amps being particularly ridiculous like this - by 9 o'clock they'd be clipping on loud notes! As Ashdown is a descendant of TE I wouldn't be surprised if they have continued the habit...
Christ, more speculative ammo for the anti-Ashdown crew to use... FWIW this is definitely not the case with my ABM
12. Why not ask the real Adam Clayton?
13.
have a ashdown bump on me i might want to sell/trade my abm 2x10 but dont want another 4x10!got to be worth at least £275.
I was planning on replacing the woofers in an ABM210 to make it 4ohm, either that or a getting a Schroeder 1212. more swayed to the 1212 atm due to size/SPL/don't have to buy replacement speakers
14. It's a good idea, hope you can pull it off and I'm interested to see the end result
15. Nothing, all the shops round here are sh*t.
16. So you're saving £100 here Didn't realise the prices had come down that much What price would you recommend/pay?
17. My precision has a jazz neck, I prefer the feel
18. Not sure what the going rate is, around £300?
19. Aye, it'll handle 600W but I've only used an ABM300 with it. More details: New style black grille with white piping round it Large central Ashdown logo Rear ported Round handles
20. Due to lack of space and smaller car I'm thinking of selling my ABM410. I've had it from new for almost a year and it's in very good condition - a few marks on the tolex. Works perfectly - Been running it with an ABM300 head and it's handled the power fine, with plenty of volume! Specs: 8ohm, 600W Switchable HF tweeter - high/low/off One speakon connector Two 1/4" jack connectors 36kg 24"x26"x16.5" (HxWxD) I can provide pictures for anyone interested. Unfortunately I don't have the original box (I used it to ship the MAG cab this replaced ) so postage isn't ideal but can be arranged. I have a quote of £12 for 1-2 working day delivery. sold Will trade for a Schroeder 1212
21. f***ing hell

25.
Is this common? I was listening to Ray Brown the other night and he seemed to repeat the same note quite frequently For example over a Bb7 is it fairly common to play Bb Bb F F, or Bb Bb Ab Ab. Im my ignorance I assumed that this was a jazz "sin" and that a different note had to be played on each beat of a basic walking line. Cheers.
It is a jazz sin, and for perpetrating it you will end up in jazz hell.
