2.
So long as you're 'a man of wealth and taste' then I'm sure you'll be very welcome
+1 & hello
3. Shouldn't be a problem.
4.
My mate paid nearly £900 for his 1x15 evo when they first came out years ago, right after he bought it they upped it to 500w (his is 300w) and lowered the price! Sounds bloody awful too, i gigged with it a few times and wished i could take off all the buttons and sliders and add a "better and louder" switch. Oh and it's too heavy too!
I'm not a fan of Ashdown 15's. There's not a great deal of volume from them when used as a single cab. The 10's are very good though
5.
wow looks great good work
Thanks
6.
What a bargain they are at that price, I have bookmarked them straightaway. I am using a 6" as I am after building a really small amp (10" cube) I am experimenting with a small 40 watt amp module and pre-amp unit that were £25.00 on ebay. The amp will have just a volume as I mean to use it just in the front room with my Korg ampworks. The other half hates having my gear in the front room so I think a 10" cube will just about sneak in. I am definitely putting one of those handles on the top of it, good link...cheers
Cool, I think one handle on the top will look really good Blue Aran don't sell screws that will fit them but I picked some self-tapping ones up with the proper sized countersunk head from a local hardware store @ 60p for 10. If you have trouble finding any, give me a shout. Do you have a link for the amp module? I'd like to try something similar. Cheers
7.
Good work mate The side handles are excellent where did you source them from ? I was looking at using an Eminence 6" 300 watt driver for a little practice amp. Looking forward to the sound review. What amp will you be driving them with ?
Thanks The handles are from Blue Aran: clicky. What sized enclosure are you thinking of building? Personally I'd go for an 8" or 10" speaker. Gona be using the Ashdown ABM head (which weighs more than the cab ). Not had time to play through it much apart from a volume test, but it's nice and loud and nothing has snapped, crackled or popped
8. More progress today: Proper camera pictures tomorrow
9. I think it's 250 posts.
10. I used polyurethane sprays and it came out pretty well. B&Q do Plastikote colours and poly varnish for about a fiver a can.
11. Just got in from padding inside, gluing the front baffle (using 20 screws, is that overkill? ) and cutting the grille to the right size. Need to pick up some wood tomorrow to make the border for the grille to be fixed to, hopefully the model/hobby shop will have something suitable. SO CLOSE TO FINISHING! I really need it ready for Monday...
Nice router work - looking smart! Alex
Thanks, I am a novice with the router Not really used it for much before this project, but it was so easy to round the edges with a round-over + bearing and they've come out really well. I must say it's a good job them circles didn't need to be perfect
12.
Absolutely and that's when all my new song ideas appear! The power of noodling... Alex
Yeah but then I forget them 5 mins later Although I must have about 300 randomly recorded riffs on the PC
13. Bollocks, that Squier Precision would've been a boss project
14. Yes, but you can move the bridge towards the neck (I think) to compensate.
15. Some progress Almost finished painting - got to refinish the top as there is a slight bump in the wood which has raised after the first round of painting and is being a persistant little bugger even after sanding it down (btw I'm using Blue Aran's "Tuff Cab" paint) Got the handles/ports/speakon plate on and silicon sealed, 4 bottom corners on and started with the acoustic padding this evening. Pictures Baffle painted: Box painted: Parts attached: Some close-ups: Also sorted out a grille, more photos soon
16. About time too
17. How much could you make one of these for (but fretted, passive plus a jazz bridge pickup)?
18. Just the grilles left
19. That is very very nice
20. No offence but do they actually expect to sell any at that price?
21. Good guide, cheers
22. Make sure nothing is loose on the router and in the workspace before you start. A stray bolt destroyed a straight cutter on mine the other day... Fortunately it wasn't the round-over bit or I'd've been snookered for finishing the edges on the cab. A table isn't really necessary, as people have said you can get good results with a workmate + clamps and just take your time. Cutters with bearings on are extremely useful
23. PM'd
24. Replied, corners and recess plate gone.
25. Completed
