Mmmm - that'll be lots of money thrown at marketing those 'brands' working then... - I've always thought they only advertise Nescafe cos it tastes like sh*t... same for Ws and AD IMHO. M
I've never seen an Ashdown ad, and can't comment on the taste I'm afraid...
2.
I'm getting really fed up of every gig I play having at least one bassist with an Ashdown Amp and a Warwick bass.
I've never seen anyone round here play a Warwick or an Ashdown (apart from when they've lent mine and a 5:15 combo)... Another peeve - bassists who turn up at a gig expecting someone else to have an amp they can use and the ones who f***ing moan at me because I wana set up the VU meter right so they dont blow the preamp... "Play as loud as you are going to during the gig" "HUH? What for?" I don't have to let you use my amp you little sh*t.
3. Fancy expensive wood, e.g. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA flamed maple top, $300000 extra.
4.
I went in there a while back and they had a second hand, battered fender jazz(mim) on sale for 300quid which i thought was way too much, considering back alley sell new ones for 359,anyway i am sure they have shut down now!!!!
IMO Back Alley is well overpriced too.

6.
I was going to ask the same question. I have an ABM300 EVO-II GTi Turbo () and have stood front of house while another band's bass player has used it DI'd and I thought it sounded alright meself
Same here, maybe it's the sound guys settings?
7. Everyone should own a Big Muff at some point...
8. Yeah customs have their own exchange rate, conveniently priced to suit their pockets. They'll also charge VAT on the shipping cost which I think is a bit bogus seeing as the international part has nothing to do with them what so ever.
9.
Allparts/Mighty Mite licensed necks regularly appear on eBay, I got a Mighty Mite ebonal fretless for a lot less than Allparts/WD were asking.
+1, I found my MM licenced Jazz neck brand new for £50
10. I normally leave the button in the out position, but I still don't know which way round the pre/post EQ is... Do you?
11. Dillinger Escape Plan - Horse Hunter (the outro is awesome)
12. There must only be 4 wires to change? Only an extra 2 over the standard wiring.
13. 4 - bass, guitar, vocals, drums. No need for anything else
14. The Wizard Thumper is pretty good, v. high output
15. Man, I just love pie
16. Guitarist ain't called Jon is he? He mentioned him and a drummer lookin for a bassist
17.
To be fair to the cellar though, 99.99% of the people in there have no intention of buying, just herds of scruffy kids with no money wanting to try out £1000 basses, I reckon after dunno 5 years of dealing with that day in day out I might put up a sign too.
You're right, all shops should ban browsing FOREVER lmao. Maybe they should rename it "The Buy Something Or Get Out Cellar"
18. Wow, the reply from Orange was really helpful... -----Original Message----- From: Adrian Emsley <[email protected]> To: Me Sent: Tue, 9 Sep 2008 9:26 Subject: Crush 35B The Crush 35B runs at 8 ohms only. UPDATE: IS THIS GUY HIGH? No it does not mute the speaker. The Crush 35B is a practice amp and does not really have the power required for playing bass with live drums. You need at least 200 watts for that. On 10 Sep 2008, at 15:11, ********** wrote: > So the minimum impedance for the speaker out is 8ohms? 19. You should be able to do that as long as its standard parallel wiring.
20.
On a slight tangent does anyone else hate strings with threads?! They look cool but after youve used them once or twice they fray and leave fluff everywhere and look scruffy as hell >=[ Especially true with my flatwounds that I'm always taking on and off when the mood takes me...
I know what you mean, it annoys me no end.
21. What sort of switch have you put in? Pics will help I would wire it like this:
22.
Might well be useful... http://forum.orangeamps.com/topic.asp?TOPI...peaker,external In short - the amp kicks out 35w at 4ohms. The built in speaker is 4ohm. The unknown is if it automatically breaks the link to the internal speaker. If it doesnt, and you hook up a 4ohm extension cab to it, the amp will see 2ohms and become quite unhappy. What are you trying to achieve by driving an extension cab? As really 35w of bass really isn't going to be too loud whatever speaker you use is it?
Cheers dude. A mate has a spare 8ohm driver knocking about which I was gona make up into a mini-cabinet, but by the sounds of it the internal speaker will get cut off so there's no point. Extension cab (usually) = more volume.
23.
No, the big Ashdown badge on the front does that for mine.
Try a gig in the dark
24. Does anyone know the minimum impedance cabinet you can connect to the speaker out? And does this cut power to the internal speaker? Cheers
