  1. Yeah I used that a bit at first before I had a midi connector! I actually didn't think to refer to it for the Editor haha! There's still a few things I don't know how to use properly. Are your patches available online anywhere? Some of the sounds you've got there are so good! I'd be interested to see how you've got the parameters set up, some like the CMYP one are really similar to some that I've attempted but seem to have a little extra something ha
  2. Basically all you do is a Basically: You get a Roland UM-One MKII. to connect the pedal to your computer, then you use the Future Impact Editor (download from pandaMidi website) to edit/create/save your own patches. Getting your head round the Editor takes a minute but when you get to grips with it, it's fairly intuitive. I had no experience with programming or anything before this and within a few weeks of messing around I could make patches from scratch.
  3. If I knew the answer to this, I wouldn't have posted a topic asking why people think they're terrible, would I lol?
  4. I've been playing for 11 years now, mostly self taught and I know a fair bit of theory but I've never actually sat down and learnt scales/modes etc and it's about time I think. Got a friend who's a pro bass player helping me out but any advice/suggestions/resources would be appreciated!

If you haven’t already got it, I would highly recommend this book, it covers the major and minor scales, and there’s some great workouts, I’ve had it years and I still use it 🙂

@Reggaebass oh that reminds me I have lots of similar books here that were given to me back when I started (I was a stubborn teenager and didn't want to learn scales/modes sigh) but better late than never!
      Thanks for the suggestion

  5. Not had any issues with my Future Impact yet, both the pedal and the software have been working fine all this year but now I can't seem to edit any of my equalisers. If I try to adjust the eq on any patch, then save and write, it will revert the eq back to how it was before I made any changes in this session> If I try to change any other parameters of the patch and save and write, it will save successfully. Anyone else had this happen to them? I've tried restarting my pc and the pedal, but it's still persisting.
  6. These are amazing, the stock sounds are alright but once you get your head around the software and can start programming/editing your own sounds it's a whole other level
  7. My MuTron Micro-Tron IV arrived today! Taken me a minute to get my head around how to get the tones I want, but first impressions are great!

  8. @JapanAxe @King Tut BBOT? Bent bit of tin lol? I've tried doing some googling of that acronym but all I'm getting is vague forum posts or 'baked beans on toast' haha @hooky_lowdown whatever sounds best to you man! I'm just clearing up a decade-long held misconception I've had ! Thanks for all the responses, been very helpful. I'm pretty happy with the tone of my new bass (besides how bright the new strings are but they're wearing in nicely) so I'll probably leave the bridge!
  9. @John Cribbin @chris_b Ah I see,. I was always under the impression it has something to do with inadequate hardware, rather than a tonal thing
  10. I've always heard Jazz bass bridges are terrible, my friend changed his to a Badass bridge a few years back and that seems to be very common if I'm not mistaken. Can anyone explain why? I've just bought a MiM 5 string jazz and I'm wondering whether I should considering replacing the bridge.
  11. https://www.thomann.de/gb/cioks_dc7.htm This one looks more like what I'm after with 7 outputs and selectable voltages. Also checking out other brands as well.
  12. Thanks, but that wouldn't solve the problem of needing at least 1 x 18v output
  13. Looks good, shame it doesn't have enough outputs though, and the DC8 version doesn't even have an 18v output
  14. What recommendations for power supplies (bricks) have you got? Been using a cheaper one for a while and it's producing a fair amount of noise now, so looking to upgrade. Needs to have at least 6 x 9v outputs and a 18v output Anyone have any experience with this: Palmer PWT 12 https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Palmer-PWT-12-Pedalboard-Power-Supply/2H1U
  15. I've got a sunburst Musicman Stingray which has taken some knocks over the years, and has a few on the front of the body now and they always catch my eye when I play it They're not awful, but enough for me to consider stripping the finish off the body. As it's a sunburst, you can see the wood through the finish for most of the body, and I think that body has a fairly nice grain to it, so if anybody has any recommendations for where to get the body stripped down/polished then I'd be very grateful! Thanks
  16. Anyone have any experience with these? What do you think? I'd love an SVT but I'm also considering cheaper and smaller options.
  17. The day before payday the bass I was looking at on a shop's site gets sold. Typical :(

I'm having a proper per-Xmas clear out and preparing to sell several 5's, so keep and eye out in the 'basses for sale' section in the next few days...

3 now listed, a fourth coming later today. Sorry for the shameless plug, but you did say you were looking... 🙂

  18. I thought this was going to be an Old 70s/80s Musicman... But it's literally a Vintage haha...
  19. UPDATE: Barnes & Mullins (the authorised Peavey store) have a spare saddle that they're going to send free of charge! Great guys
  20. Every rig rundown video or bass player interview seems to be with rock/metal players, or the usual suspects throughout history, anyone know where I can find stuff covering jazz/hiphop/pop/electronic in particular? Seems like players in those genres get far less coverage... Every now and then a channel like That Pedal Show will do something cool like this interview with Dishan Abrahams: (video below) I know about YouTube channels like Scott's Bass Lessons where he goes into a lot of old school players, but there only seem to be a few certain places to go for this kinda thing.
  21. Dug out my old Peavey Grind Bass for the first time in years. Where I'd taken off the E string at some point, a saddle part has gone missing from the bridge. I was wondering if anyone might know where to source a part like this? I've checked the Peavey site and contacted the authorised UK store listed in the repairs/parts contacts to see if they can help
  22. Anyone got any patches that are like the bass synth tone in this: I made one the other day that is pretty close but, it just doesnt quite sit right in the mix. Hard to get the slow upwards swoop while retaining thick low end throughout
  23. Thanks for the insight! I'm using the Vintage Deluxe not the Ultra though, by the way!
  24. Yeah I've heard about the volume hike which is a real shame because if not, it'd solve both my EQ/drive needs
  25. So I've had my Vintage Deluxe for ages and always used it as a drive pedal, but I'm finding myself needing a preamp lately so I've started using it as a preamp/EQ section early on in my chain. I see a lot of people using the Tone Hammer for a similar role and I wondered how the two compare. Anyone have any opinions on the two pedals and the their abilities as drive/preamp pedals?
