1. If the serial number is an I it's 89-90
2. This guy has a mix of lessons and some great vids with grooves in which you can easily see his movements: http://uk.youtube.com/user/MarloweDK
3. afaik they're all japs yes. I had my electronics replaced (currently (not) for sale (sold pending payment)) which sorted that out. Still they're great imho and I don't think I'll part with it anytime soon. How's your fretwork? Mine was a bit dodgy high on the G
4. afaik they're made in japan, this one in 1989-90, a pretty thin neck compared to most fenders and damn active.
5.
Actually it's not! The verse is fine because - of course - you're not actually playing, but trying to sing the chorus while playing one of the most famous bass-lines in rock is not easy at all.
to me it is, the timing of the singing is easy while playing bass! (not that I'm a good singer but I can manage this one!)
6. 5 1 solo guitar 2 guitar/singer bass drummer
7. a boss obd-3 could help you achieve this sound

instant gas... though I can't slap to save my life so I'll leave it to someone better
11. SD Antiquity series for me! Definately a good solution to get a real vintage sound without spending a fortune on the pickups.
12. I had these removed from my old fender precision lyte. If you're doing a build and want a preamp and some pickups you might be able to use these. I don't want a lot of money for it, as long as shipping is taken care of. 15 pounds will do if you have a nice project they'll end up in Some extra tools (rings 'n bolts) for fitting the controls added and some things to wire it neatly.
13. I like this bass a lot myself, but I got it fairly cheap. Had pickups and preamp replaced and it's my current gigging bass. 150 pounds would be cheap, I'd happily pay 300 pounds for what you're getting for it! If you're looking to sell quickly aim at 225 poundish
14. awesome deal this bass
15. as far as I can see this is a single coil J style, but you can check this on the back of your headstock (should be a small sticker)
16.
Yeah definitely of questionable heritage. I think he should contact Fodera to check the serial and find the original owner !
big + f*ck*ng 1 to that
17. All Right Now by Free should be pretty easy!
18. Sounds great, the sustain is a bit of a problem for mine too.. sometimes it just seems to drop away! I think I need to replace the bridge and put a D-Tuner on it as well, should be worth it's money because they're great basses... now let's get it sold!
19.
He certainly does, and after a little bit of an upgrade (Bridge, Pickups, etc.) it's the one I reach for every time. 'Course, mine's rather "relic'ed" now, after all the gigs it's been to, but I still wouldn't swap it.
Bit off topic but.. what exactly did you replace and with what? I'm curious because mine is probably gonna be backup soon, but still worth upgrading I think!
20.
I had to suffer the day after, to get those strap locks for someone!
it's only two of them
21. I love every bit of mine! His bass will look a bit like this (but less battered?) (mine) I had the electronics replaced and that only made it better! Great neck, super light but yet very powerful! Nice price too (I had mine for a bargain! 150 euro's)
22. You might want to check out the basscollection for sale here!
23.
I've just done a production of Jesus Christ Superstar and used a Warwick FNA Jazzman. I found it nice and versatile. The well voiced mid control gave me more definition and honk in the busy stuff like "What's the Buzz", I switched to both pick ups and boosted the treble a bit for the slap passages in the Overture and "Heaven On Their Minds", and I backed off the mid and treble for stuff like "I Don't Know How To Love Him". It also has a passive / active switch.
that's really cool! Very funky basslines in that one (are there any sheets for that online btw?) I'd recommend a lakland myself, because of the wide range of tonal variety it offers! They usually have great preamps and pickups and are very solid.
24. another nice sing what you play vid
25. nope usually down or alternate picking. I need a fat sound usually, so I prefer down. For harmonics upwards is great though
