The Rocket-Science of being a polite band: 1) Good contact beforehand (who's going to bring the backline, terms of payment, backstage area if you are big enough) 2) Good contact whilst being there (hey wzp, we're here... everything okay? who's stagemanager, who's soundtech if you're not bringing your own) 3) Good contact after being there (thx, well organised (if it was) nice venue) its easy

my advice: don't end up bashing it into the bassdrum at the end of every gig

I was going to make a topic related to this but as this one excists... Would you, with the current recession, invest in basses (e.g. import from america) to keep them and sell them later on? I could imagine after the recession prices will get back to normal and some money could be made!

Good bits I can learn by ear relatively swiftly. Robust enough to carry heavy kit. Never had a problem with instrument weight My technique can't be all bad. I don't get aches and pains from playing. Never found a bass neck profile that is difficult to play. Good endurance levels. Can play for hours. My timing's usually good. Drummers like me. I'm good at filling empty spaces in songs I add show I have a good theoretical base I can read music (though not a vue) I like jamming Bad bits Can't do slap (!) I'm not really good with 3/4th measures... somehow 6/8th is great I'm hypermobile which sometimes leads to crappy right hand technique I don't have enough money to buy the gear I want so I'm using multi-fx I want to be kinda loud

do you really want to spray? You could try stickering one side and then lacquer it?

Some passive basses go louder than active ones! I think on your ampeg you could use the -15db for active basses, and just not use it for passive ones. I'm not sure how your ampeg deals with the gain if it peaks but for some dirt you might want to set it really close to peaking. Try it out I'd say!

Very christmastree-ish! I don't really care but they do have to fit the layout of a bass. I like it that, when a bass has 'dotted' pickups, the neck has dots too that match. Likewise I don't like dots when you have non-dotted pickups.

Fender is backup to my Van der End, despite not being a Jazz setup.

Hehe I know the MAG series is very cheap but it does provide a lot of low end, I'll have a good think about it... might have to sell my gear first before buying something new (which I wouldn't like to do)
