1. I have been a die hard jazz bass player my whole life until... I bought a JV Squier Precision. So I had my first gig using PBass and what's even more challenging - using a Squier bass! It ended up with a purchase of one more JV Squier P! My high dollar Foderas, Alembics and MTDs are standing in the corner while all my Sadowskys are sold already. Can you imagine? :/
2. I think you should consider building a custom jazz from Warmoth or other manufacturer's parts. Warmoth makes great parts and you can have them to choose the right woods and cut pickup holes based on Thumb positions. I have built more than 10 basses from Warmoth parts and they were just superb instruments.
3. Thanks! The old ones are rare and exeptional basses, that's true. But then again all my collection of basses is exeptional and there's almost no room for all of then. Sadly! This one has Noll preamp. It sounds awesome even compared to my high dollar basses and vintage Fenders I had. There are no shortcuts in that particular design.
4. My new band calls for that old PBass sound and I've already got too many jazz basses - so it's finally time to let some basses go... Which is a difficult task as I have kept only THE VERY BEST INSTRUMENTS I've tried. So for sale is one of my best basses ever - the '93 SKC Bogart Blackstone headless 4-string! It's all composite but it sounds surprisingly big and woody, nothing like Status or other graphite neck basses, very close to my former 69 jazz btw. More growly and bites more though. Snappy highs of course, so it's a slap machine too! Super easy to play! This particular bass has the highly praised Bartolini 9W4J pickups that sound much better than the new ones. (Wow, I might buy it myself!!!) So the bass will be sent out from Tallinn, Estonia, EU. The shipping cost to EU is included in the price!

6.
There you go, that's quite emphatic!
Of course, I was looking for a mate for my 82-83 JV Squier PBass that looks exactly the same!
7. Fantastic! Where can I get more of it?
8. Hey folks, here's a first single from my coming album called "The Present" (performed by The Alvistar Funk Association). I wrote the song in 1987 but we rerecorded it in 2014-2015. Me on 72 Fender Jazz bass, the great Ari Hoenig (US) on drums, fantastic vocal artist Inga Kaare on vocals. https://soundcloud.com/alvistarfunkassociation/the-present Here's also a video: http://etv2.err.ee/v/kultuur/eesti_top_7/videod/bd424834-9f29-4166-ae04-a6ac507565e1/2---alvistar-funk-association-the-present Please enjoy and feel free to add your comments here or in Soundcloud! More to come soon!
9. Mmm, my dream bass!
10. No GAS! (probably sick or something?)
11.
The ones I won on ebay appear to be Model J DP123's if that's any help? https://www.gak.co.u...CFTIo0wodG30L7Q looks like I got them at a decent price if they are +£100 new.
Aa, these are warmer but perhaps do not have those snappy highs. But the price you paid is very good!
12. I tried Ultra Jazz 4 and 5. Also used Model J before that. While they sounded ok, Ultra Jazz being a bit too dry and narrow sounding, the other pickups sounded more open and full spectrum. Model J had great bottom to be true and Ultra Jazz works nicely with a good preamp.
13. Depends on your taste, of course! I personally tried Dimarzios vs Fender Custom Shop vs SD Antiquity II vs Lollar and sold Dimarzios. The other pickups found places on my different jazz basses.
14. Try Lollars! These are the perfect match with your wood combo. Tested!
15. My Bogart has actually very wooden tone. Very close to my former 62 Jazz bass, while cutting more through.
16. Grab this bass! These basses are awesome! I have one too and I love it! Mine has the old 9W4J pickups that are far superior than the new ones.
17. It actually turns into never ending story. At least it turned in my case. I started exactly like you, now I have appr 40-50 microphones, 40 channels of high dollar preamps, 50K worth plugins etc etc Not to mention a bunch of DIs, amps, cabs, cans etc etc. And I am still looking for the right sound.
18. Now with the better mix: https://soundcloud.com/margusalviste/the-gate-by-the-alvistar-funk
19.
Unbelievable it's still here !! Such a nice piece of work ... If I sell mine I'll send a pm mate ! Jer
Thanks!
20. Hi, here's a recent piece from my band The Alvistar Funk Association. The song is called the Gate. It was played using 79 PBass through the Millennia TD-1 preamp. Enjoy!
