  1. Omnific - proggy, instrumental metal. Really good too.
  2. Utilities, rates. They’ll swallow a lot.
  3. JBG may have been a 90s Diva (weren't they all?) - but there are more than a few stories of his philanthropy thesedays. Josh Homme's a bit of a pillock, and he's done some awful things. I used to hate a lot of Grunge on the grounds that it was popular at school. I am now happy to give most of it a try if they aren't already on my 'enjoy quite a lot list,' which plenty of them are. Still don't like Jane's Addiction though - what is it?!
  4. Yes - 4 minutes of Alex soloing - brilliant. I joined a gaming group at Uni (RPGs), and the DM was an English Lit postgrad (now an author) who, once he heard I liked Prog (from my Dad's collections), said I should listen to this: and he put on Hold Your Fire. As Force Ten kicked in, I realised my guitar-noodling days (18th birthday pressie) would be the minor to Bass. "Chords! on Bass!". ("yeah, and he's singing, and playing the keyboards," he replied.) When I asked what else they did, he put on their latest album, Counterparts (this was October '95). I was hooked.
  5. So no recessed control to operate the Toaster or Kettle? Hmm... (kicks tyres). What’s your next design then, and will it be such a rhapsody of wood that it evolves into a Treant (or a Liveship if you’re a real nerd).
  6. Oh it’s awful, what were you thinking? Jaco only needed... Wait, wrong thread. That is stupendously beautiful. You could rent that out to estate agents looking to sell luxury homes. It’s an actual work of art. And it makes noise! What do all the knobs and switches do again? And are they sliders on the pickups?
  7. Warwick Taranis; there’s even a Rockbass version.
  8. Ooh, my mate has a Strat in this finish; it’s lovely!
  9. Prince was a polymath and was great at anything musical he tried. I dunno; it’s all subjective innit. I listen to John Petrucci play and think “woah,” but I get the same feeling from David Gilmour (the reason I nagged my parents for a guitar at 18.)
  10. Dave Ellefson is a very notable exception: Dave M and the lead guitarist du jour always leave room for the bass clank, and his noodly bass lines open so many tracks up. But yes. Also very tight. If you watch him doing instructional/demo spot videos filmed at guitar stores etc., his left hand’s like a CNC machine in speed and precision.
  11. NASA/JPL
  12. Or @ him and he will appear... @KiOgon; @petegillies has a humble request!
  13. Niiice. Is it light as well?
  14. @Bill Fitzmaurice of these parts no less. It does look nice, far too far away for me too.
  15. @Dood: it’s an icon. Or an effigy, depends how well it plays!
  16. My favourite tone is condescending and bitter... wait up...
  17. So are Kinder Eggs, apparently. Savages.
  18. In his book ‘Roadshow’, Neil Peart describes all 3 of them working out during pre-tour rehearsals who would trigger each noise, clip, effect etc. based on who had a ‘comparatively quiet bit’ at that moment with their main instrument(s). They left the challenge to their techs to match up the pad, pedal or switch to the right noise. They were determined that while their songs would have bits of borrowed noise or effect from whatever they found interesting, it would always be played (triggered) live by one of them.
  19. It’s a catchy tune but the lyrics are repetitive dross, and I like the Killers (generally).
  20. Dream Theater/Nightmare Cinema
  21. Just watched The Go-Go’s. Great story of a great band; damn they did some drugs...
  22. Niiice. Love the shape, bet all 3 pickups at once sounds amazeballs colourflip? *cough* @Dood *cough*
  23. Love the layout; what does ‘Chaos’ do?
  24. Got the email last night: had not realised they did one for the guitarist too. Is their manual in duplo font with more pictures? Have watched Mr Navarro’s demo video - he’s a lucky geezer to develop and play with kit like that.(a darn fine player too) The features are amazing: I liked your patch too @Quatschmacher: portentous noise!
