As a comparison - how would that compare to buying the same bass direct, i.e. without you building it or them training you? I like it though: teaching building skills with assistance to craft your own instrument. You must feel proud every time you noodle on the bass now, knowing you did most of the fiddly bits on it.

Nice! You’ll have to give details of cost and options when you’re all posted!

Dupuytren's Contracture - seeking advice from sufferers.
Daz39 replied to TorturedSaints's topic in General Discussion
I think (unless I am mixing conditions) that TMS host Jonathan Agnew suffers from this. He tweeted lots of advice taken from links and his own thoughts a few years ago. I did have some random tightenings in one finger of my left hand last year - it would be stiff on waking, and then slowly fade in the morning. I'm 42 now, so things are falling apart/seizing up - but I don't think it's the above condition. -
Perhaps there will be a reprint in time? I am feeling quietly happy I have mine. Not smug - coz I am a massive Geddy fan and know how much a book of this pictorial giddiness would mean to you lot.

Nice - I'd love a VM5, maybe that pale blue with white pickups.

So, just how many basses do you own ????

So you plan to wait until it's quiet and then break the used Spector market by flooding it with your collection ;0 Question: unless the answer is, so there's a spare on stage, why do you have 3 Nikki Sixx Spectorbirds in the same colour? -
Just consider the price plus p&p as the total you pay. Let the seller worry about how it's split: they pay fees on the lot, so there's not really much to gain from overcharging p&p unless they have priced the item keenly.

Lost by ParcelForce - oh Joy!! HAPPY ENDING

How is full inspection possible given the delivery schedules the couriers have to meet? Plus instances like this where they are being duplicitous. It's ridiculous. -
.60 is not really almost normal!

I recall reading many years ago that he was still performing to keep up with medical bills - and true enough, he still was. It's pretty poor that you have to do that (even if he probably loved performing). What a sound. 0.13s - his bending fingers must have been made of steel!
-
Exactly right. He is to modern bass playing what other groundbreaking types were to their fields/ It's terribly passe and of the moment to look down on people like Macca, or early sci-fi writers (Mary Shelley, anyone?), or pioneering scientists - but they had no back catalogue of research, similar ideas or general awareness of form to work with: they were there at the start. For the record: I do not like The Beatles, but there were some nice basslines, usually with a nice bouncy tone: and you've got to respect someone who played, sang, wrote and created some of the most lasting tunes of the last (crikey) almost 60 years. He might be a scouser and have questionable taste in instruments, but he's a legend.

Dawsons Music - Warrington closing after 120 years
Daz39 replied to visog's topic in General Discussion
I did not even know there was one in Huddersfield. I have visited the Leeds one (recently doubled in seize) a few times, and the Altrincham one often as it's where my in-laws live. The Chester one is nice too, sort of rambles over a few mezzanines under a grotty NCP. -
Get one of @GisserD's shmancy compact FI boxes! Then keep ALL the pedals.
-
You're so right: @Doodjust isn't funny... /deadpan I like the pedal reviews where they put text on to tell you what bass settings are being used and then the hand comes in to slowly turn the dial and you can hear the change: this is usually for DG pedals, but I did see some excellent reviews of the Glou Glou pedals (probably official ones?) Also shout out to Source Audio official reviews: tasty guitar playing and limited slap on the bass ones.

Today would have been Chris Squire's 71st birthday
Daz39 replied to Bassman Sam's topic in General Discussion
Yes - Mr Moraz brought a definite jazzy influence with the Keys on the album. Gates is madness - the opening sections where you could be forgiven for thinking the guitars and drums are out of step with each other as if it's sort of free-time plodding, but then bang it's back on track. I still have Topographic Oceans, and whilst it's so jam-like that Rick Wakeman hates it, there are sections of magic across all 4 tracks - I suppose modern bands would release it as the Studio Outtakes -
How long til @Doodasks for one in purple flip?

I heard bits of them over the years (mainly OOALH and snatches of Close to the Edge): my prog route was Floyd > Rush + Dream Theater. On a whim (because Newcastle had a brilliant music store called Windows that sold instruments and CDs), I got Keys to Ascension 1+2, mainly because I'd always stopped to look at Roger Dean's artwork. Holy macaroni, what a noise the bass made (the rest weren't half bad either). After that I quickly worked my way through the 70s stuff. Echoing above: although tracks like Awaken or America (no wait, Siberian Khatru. No, Heart of the Sunrise...) are my fave Chris tracks, I think Relayer is my favourite Yes album. It's everything people (pffftt) hate about Prog, and it's utterly sublime. -
Starless, King Crimson.

Should BCers declare commercial or similar interests?

You own so much Spector stuff they ought to give you a yearly share offering! -
Hah - for Point 5 I submit Andy Carroll as evidence against.

Tricky. If you're not paying them though, can you expect this? (Like with MPs). -
They also do one of these: https://becosfx.com/product/midi-enabled-analog-overdrive-and-amp-channel-switcher-pedal/ Midi-switchable OD pedal.

Wow - that is fully-featured, innit! Reading the tilt-eq thing: is that a similar sort of thing to the VPF/VLE Markbass use: moving some freq up while attenuating others? Sounds v.useful, esp with the H/L switch to tailor it to Guitar or Bass.
