In 1997/8, in my 3rd year at Uni, I lived in a Council flat in Walker (it was cheap, ok!) about 1 mile east, and across the Tyne, from Gateshead Stadium. One night Tina Turner played a gig there. The wind was just right and I could hear everything. She was seriously good and energetic, the band were good, and she’d have been late 50s by then, still pumping out 2hr+ shows, dancing in heels. Some songs sound a bit meh on the radio (by any artist), but We Don’t Need Another Hero at stadium volume with crowd participation was spine-tingling. Much respect.

I refer the honourable bass player to the Telephobia thread…

Oh I hear you. my once blonde hair is now sort of brown, sort of not much there, and my stubble is more salt than pepper now. Anyway - @Dood is only prematurely aged from living in Eastern Angular.

Auf der Maur (2004): eponymous release from Melissa, bass player with Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins. It's quite good actually.

That's the badger! Good job I don;t play guitar much - Origin do loads of pedals for that too... gah. so nice.

I had some actual spare time yesterday evening with the tv remote so I found the videos by erm that German? Danish? chap who reviews bass gear - it was a comparison and explanation of both the super vintage and the '64. The bass player he had demo'ing them got some really good noises out of them (what a good player too). Someone put me out of my misery and tell me the reviewer's channel/name?!

Now you see - if you did drink and smoke heavily at least you could worry about it less ;)! Where's the Heart or Care emoji! (def. asked this before)

I think, having seen other for sale posts here, Dood is really struggling and has resorted to a bit of a fire sale - and clearing out the accumulated bass gear he rarely uses isn't cutting it - hence the musing that he may seriously have to sell his pride and joy as it's not actually a bass he records/gigs with often enough. But it is obvs his most favouritest inanimate object. The life of a freelancer is a precarious one, especially in a hobby industry where consumers may cut their spending. And yes, his woes in no way lessen other people's. I'm choosing (hah, choosing!) to move house this summer, to a vastly more pricey area, and both my cars are indicating their terminal weariness. Life sucks vis a vis money for 99.5% of us.

Roger Taylor popping up in the interval show.

I do like a pedal with more than one type of knob/slider/toggle...

Lots of his other stuff is up for sale in various for sale sections; I presume in convo he has mentioned to the OP that the Shuker might need to go too* *cost of living crisis innit.

Difference between a jazz guitarist and a rock guitarist
Daz39 replied to Leonard Smalls's topic in General Discussion
Steve Howe's the closest my interested ears have got to enjoying a rock/jazz* sort of thing - or is he just an aimless noodler on a jazz-style guitar with briliant taste? *I don't mean proper fusion. If there is such a thing. Al Di Meola can certainly noodle in a 3 minute context. Wunderbar -
Sky Arts and other music related programmes

Add an interesting stat from logistics manager: "We ship out 272,000 jars a shift to 43 countries." Gregg Narrator Overdub: "That's enough jam to spread bread all the way to Brazil. AND BACK!" -

"Cor, look at the size of that vat. It's Enormous! Stone me!" etc. in hairnet. -
Wowsers - that's as mad as a bag of snakes.

That's a whole other forum in itself - it applies to everything people find to talk about. "Well, of course, I never saw any -ism at work, maybe you took it out of context." etc. I can cut them some slack with answering the phone - if one of them is with a customer who is noodling, and the other is in the office on the phone they may not notice it. If I was a customer in the shop and talking to the staff about something I'd be annoyed if they kept stopping to answer the phone. I am still patiently awaiting the new website - mainly because when looking at pics of shiny things on my phone it is clunky to navigate.

Yep - me too, phones, hate them for actual calls.

Jez bought my ikkle tremelo pedal and was super patient, despite Royal Mail’s best efforts to imitate asthmatic ants with some heavy shopping.

Some of this is also the exchange rates. Dingwall Combustions used to be just out of my reach, now they're crazy prices.

Big Flippin Ripoff! (Best Yorkshire Accent)

Yeah, I had one but moved it on. It went from nothing to very overdriven but I couldn’t get many usable noises from it even with the Harmonics dial.

Woah woah woah. Good for guitar as well? Common sense gone all of a sudden...
