2. Excellent answer thanks. I'm probably going to buy a couple of PAR 56's from Thomann and give them a try before I go ordering the full 8 I've been thinking of.
3.
I agree with the looking good bit, and as far as LED lanterns, the BIG advantage is no heat. Have played a few gigs with par cans near my head and nearly melted. I invested in a T-bar and 4 LED par cans, each has it's own sound to light and NO HEAT!
I've been looking into just such a set-up for our band - what size par's did you go for (56 or 64?), and how are they performing? I've been a bit wary of LED's as I guess they're not as bright as standard halogen cans? Your advice would be appreciated
4. An interesting Shaftesbury Ripper copy shaftesbury
5. Always a favourite - Rhythm Stick (Ian Dury) Pretty much got it down at full speed now, Love playing it.
6. Excellent set list - could have come from one of my gigs 100% in agreement with everyone else here too - most free TAB's are utter garbage , and it never ceases to amaze me how wrong people can get a song. I always try to get a song down by ear - that way it tends to be more accurate, and by working it out yourself you'll remember it much better. Good luck with the band
7.
"December 63 (Oh What a Night)" by the Four Seasons was the song for me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liyiT_DGREA other stuff had tickled my bass buds before but that bouncy line just did it... mind you, I did have a spell playing bass in a punk band just hammering out whatever notes I was told to play... but the pure bouncy line has always cast a spell over me...
SNAP
8. Columbus Jazz here
9. Local bar "after meal" show to about 60. Went really well considering I've been in hospital for the last 3 weeks (not much practice there then) and had to sit down for the entire 2nd set. In fact I played better than I have for quite a while - maybe I should lay of the practicing a bit more
10.
YeaH? On PAGE FOUR! Before that, all it says is "Jeff, Omar, Marcus, and the Good Doctor". Not much help if you don't know any of Jeff Healeys Backing Musicians, is it? When I follow a link to YouTube, I'd like to watch the pretty moving pictures, not have to scroll through a soliloquy of the usually facile comments posted by the 'Great Unwashed'. I'm terribly, terribly sorry that I don't measure up to your expectations of who I should know, but I was just asking a simple question in the hope of getting a simple answer. I'm usually too busy gigging to sit on the computer, so I'm not au fait with who's a 'Hero' or 'Role Model' this week.
chill ....
11.
The bass kind of gives it away!!
just a bit
12.
Looks like the string tree was a bridge too far too
they just keep getting worse
13. of course - they forgot to put the bridge pickup in - easy mistake to make ...........
14. quite a common one. Never follow links in emails about ebay, always go direct through the ebay site. Always be suspicious if an email refers to "dear ebay member" or "your item". If it's from ebay, it will have your name on it, and if it's really about one of your items, it will say "your bass" (or whatever is relevant) As a general rule I NEVER trust an email from or about ebay, and always go direct through the ebay site.
15. yeah, I saw that one, but £380 for a second hand squier (and it's not even a Jap one)
16. No idea about this one, but interesting non the less Strata/Status
17. Shaftesbury here
18. Interesting answers posted to the questions
19.
'Sellers are not permitted to create titles for their listings that do not accurately describe the item for sale.'
Very true, and it WAS misleading, however if I'd had a pound for every Squier I'd seen advertised in the title as a "Fender"
20. Not sure if it's safe to tell this story as it was a guitar, not a bass, but: Collected my brand new Simon & Patrick acoustic from the shop (this was in the days before ebay ), picked up my 4 yr old son from his grandparents and drove home. As I opened the front door my son pushed past me to get in the house. I tripped over him, guitar in hand, and ...... well, I was NOT happy. Opened the soft case it was in to find the headstock hanging off. My boy is still now paying the price
21.
I never had you down as a scammer Barney, as thats what he says "if you are a scammer, I am............!"
Damn. My covers blown
22. Now I don't feel so alone
23. I do get a bit fed up of hearing "made in the same factory as Tokai" though.
24. It's nice to know he is "MUCH MUCH more" intelligent than me
