1. I played my biggest gig so far, this year aged 47 at Americana, potential audience of over 100,000 at the event,we headlined above George Hamiltons 1V & V,and Paul overstreet amongst others. It's never too late.
2. At least it does'nt have two chrome bratwurst sausages/sex toys nailed to it,ala GUS
3. Overpriced Fender copies Anything with too many knobs and buttons Block neck Jazzes 70's Fenders Airline Map basses
4. You could use a pair of blade type humbuckers,im assuming that the pickups are les paul guitar sized ones.
5. Unwritten rule is,Last one finished gets the beers in.Normally works.
6. I do'nt think that you are missing a trick.IMO the amp is just as,if not more important in defining the sound. As you said yourself,it sounded great,so why change this combination ?
7. It took me ages to get from P to J basses comforably, but it was worth it IMO,to get back into P basses was just as awkward, for me,but mine has a J size neck.I do miss the bridge J pup though.
8.
Posted a few times before - 1963 Precision - goes out to play most weekends. Why leave it home? It's not like it's going to get a slight ding which would affect it's value. I rather like the fact that most 'collector' types lose interest when noticing the extra pickup - It's not for sale anyway.
You really need to get pics of that bass up on here H.
9. What about a gold 5 string one H ?
10. It doesnt really matter what you buy now, because within a few months of reading through the posts on here you will be gassing for a battered old Precision bass.
11. HaHaHaHaHaHa.
12. bobfoc ? nice P though.
13. Our drummer uses the previously mentioned Bose system into the desk,so we can do the occasional quieter club gigs easily.Im sure that he uses a different brand electronic snare too. JTUK,for gods sake who is that in your avatar ? i have to read your posts 3 or 4 times.LOL
14.
I know a drummer who has a belter of a Roland kit & has one of those Bose portable PA systems. Sounds immense. Sounds like my drummer.
15. Ibanez original basses except the roadstar, especially the Musician fretless.1/2 ton of numb sounding boat anchor.
16. I have a gold sparkle one,the hardware is all Wilkinson gear,it plays great, nice Jazz size neck, and sounded good as standard. One of the 4 pickups on mine died,i eventually ( it took a while ) got to speak to Trevor Wilkinson, and he said that if i sent it to him,he would check it out and replace the pickup F.O C.The customer service, once i found out who the new importer was,was good. But i was too impatient, and am busy fitting Wilkinson Soapbar & Precision pickups to it,for no other reason than i fancy doing it.
17. Precisions were so called because they have frets, and can be played easily with ............erm precision. now,a fretless Precision on the other hand.
18. Original and iconic, which Fender P & J basses are will always hold there value better than copies,no matter how refined the copies are.If these companies that make these high end "copies" are so good/inovative,why can't they come up with an original idea, without it looking like a P or a J bass ? Just look at almost anything American from the 50's - early 60's,cars,bikes.............etc For example, 57 Chevy or Vauxhall Cresta ? 60's Fender or 60's Burns ? Harley Panhead or Sunbeam ? Levi's originals or Staypressed ? I know which i'd rather have.
19. Billy Sheehan (the wife) they allready have all the bits on other models Precision body/Tele bass neck/Tele neck pickup/precision pickup.
20. Fender Japan Jaguar Bottom Master
21. I allways rated him, prefer the Police and earlier solo stuff though.
22. Great amps i still miss my 135/2x15 cab.

24. Not bass related, but still really awful I learned (over 30 years ago) that you can not make a Fender Thinline Telecaster into a double cutaway, because they are hollow. My dad was well and truly annoyed at the fact, that i had ruined my birthday present,a late 60's single coil model.
