7. Yep,it's the only way.The pickup screws go through the pick guard at the front, and through the body at the bridge end,so,if you were to take the front or rear screws out,you would never get the springs back in.If the bass was'nt so playable it would be in the bin.It only rarely got used,T.V & video basically, when it was working ok,+ the wife bought me it.
8. It will get the MM,and either 1 or 2 of the lipsticks, all this will be done at the same time. The body is 2 piece,in that the front screws to the back, which needs to be seperated to get at the wiring and to take the pickups out.
9. I personally do'nt.If you thought too much about where and how things were made, and were really bothered about it,you wouldnt buy anything, that goes not just for musical instruments, but most foreign, especially far eastern produced goods,T.V/fridge/clothes/food etc etc.
10. Singular pickup readings, all,to all points and purposes the same.It is registering, but for some reason it is quiter than the others. Replacement pickup will be MM type, body will need routing, and new scratchplate making. It may or may not get one,or two of the good pickups in the neck position.
11. G & D pups swapped over, problem has moved to D string,so it is the pup,but they are still all reading the same output.Plan B,new pickup.
12. That is my next task i think.
13.
Still doesn't have enough frets which kind of defeats the object...
What ? less than 12 ???
14. Thanks. They are lipstick types, all 4 join at the vol pot,and have been tested for output. It's really confusing.Next option is to change out the pickups.
15. Thanks,i need to buy this now.

20. I have an Italia Modulus 3 with a strange pickup problem. This bass has 4 pups, one for each string. The G string sounds like it is being run through a compressor, also when played with a pick or fingers, the downstroke has a full sound, but when played on the up stroke there is a lack of volume/tone. The bass is set up perfectly, intonation is spot on,there is no fret buzz, the pickups are all reading the same output. I thought that the pickup heights were wrong,i had the same problem years ago on a strat,so tried all pickups at all heights, and the problem is still there,it's driving me mad.
21. I have 4 basses,2 that are barely audible when played un-plugged,and 2 that can be heard un-plugged.Of the latter 2,one sounds great plugged in,the other is weak and characterless. Of the first 2,(my 1st & backup basses) the Jazz 5 (passive) sounds amazing, the other one (active)not a patch in both tone and volume on my first choice. I think that the basses finish can make a huge difference too,i've never got on with poly coated basses, almost all the ones that had "it" for me were either cellulose or un-finished. I ca'nt explain it,it's just some things work together and this is the "mojo" that a bass has.
22. Im just suprised that it's not more common to see through neck P or Jazz bases.
23. http://www.911tabs.com/tabs/a/alabama_3/ I do'nt know if this will be of any use,im not familiar with them, even though we were booked to play with them, but the festival was cancelled.
24. No intention of buying this, but it does look nice though.
