  1. Yes, there is that with the volume thing. We generally only use a vocal PA, and with drummer, gitwrist, and keys + 3 singers, maybe i'd be better off with the - *cough * Trace Watts
  2. Blimey guv, the 500 head was down in power compared to the 200 watt head ?
  3. Genz Shuttlemax 9.2 - without doubt. 2 separate preamps with very versatile EQ, and plenty of headroom ( 900 watts at 4 ohms ) Dial-able mid scoop at the flick of the footswitch. Dial-able bass boost at the flick of the footswitch. Dial-able top end boost at the flick of the footswitch. Combine both preamps at the flick of the footswitch. Thing only weighs 7lbs
  4. Nice - defintately only going for a combo. Could always keep an eye out for a Celestion to stuff into an Ashdown combo, if i didnt like the speaker ?
  5. Thanks chaps Veering towards Ashdown at the mo I do like the TE sound, but i dont use the pre-shape, just the graphic, and switch from bridge to neck pickup to change my sound for certain songs. Maybe the little bit of extra tone possibilities from an Ashdown is more attractive. The fact that Ashdown are alive and kicking is also something in their favour
  6. I've been debating a while for maybe a TE GP7 / GP12 1x15 combo, or ASHDOWN ABM EVO 1x15 combo, and unsure of which way to go. I rehearse through our rhythm gits own TE GP7 SMC 300 watt combo, love the sound, but what happens if the electronics go a bit turbo ? ASHDOWN are at least still around and have legendary customer service, and are able to deal with problems. But do they stack up to each other in tone versatility and output ( perceived to the human ear ) I'm aware of the weight issues, but for now, not on my list of worries
  7. Looks nicer - configurator plus a bit of crude photoshopping
  8. Thats another beautiful build Rob, well done again
  9. Nice to know. We have a gig there in a couple months Actually, free drinks means a coke or an orange juice to most bands, since there's a drive home after the gig. I suspect pub LL's know this, so offering free drinks isnt such a loss, but still its a nice gesture. They dont have to do this
  10. No, you aint a wuss. Its all subjective, innit guv ? Someone like Eddie Hall would think 10lbs was matchwood. Someone like Mr Muscle ( the twigman from the advert ) would fall over if he donned a 10lb bass. I have a 10lb bass and though i fall short of Eddie Hall's stature ( way way short ) i'm no twiggy either, so i use my 4" super wide strap, and makes this feel like an 8lb bass
  11. What sort of bass cab does one need for such low end ?
  12. Did they not tell you they were in Bolton from the beginning ?
  13. Its going back a while, but didnt the BBC TOTP team insist that any band appearing must do a recording of their track the day before ( or whatever ) and then mime to that on the night of appearance ? If that was true, the Doobs may have changed the key, either by accident or design ?
  14. I use one of these bad boys ALTO SXM 112 https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Alto-SXM112-12-Active-Stage-Monitor/G45?origin=product-ads&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsqf61Yr35wIVTLDtCh3GZgoLEAQYAiABEgIK2fD_BwE
  15. Agreed - i have Toulouse, Capt., and Vices in my collection. Treasure music indeed
  16. After having a chinwag with a couple of folk, i can post this, as the original packing is well sturdy. £30 seems ball park , and will reduce Sub price to £670
  17. Just re-visited some old Doobies and realised how much i love the simple but wonderful bass line on that track from Tiran Porter, who was on the 2nd album Toulouse Street and subsequent albums I know the vid isnt live, just the track playing over the top, but Tiran is sporting a T Bird and wondered if that was the bass they recorded Toulouse Street with On a side note, Tom Johnston is one of my all time fave male crooners
  18. That top bass has what looks like a Precision neck on it https://equipboard.com/pros/rinus-gerritsen/hondo-longhorn-doubleneck-bass
  19. That SRV clip was so slick. Guitar tech and SRV in perfect sync
