  1. I bet it's well made, but it reminds me of other wacky shapes - Prince - Bootsy - just too much for me.
  2. And thanks to you, i'm a few hundred quid lighter after plumping for a Shuttlemax
  3. I just realised how old school bass i am. Those above are horriblus. PS YMMV
  4. Dem bones Dem bones etc
  5. Good for him. I really like they way Ed goes about his reviews. Always no nonsense, and no fluff. And he can play damn good too

    Ramp??

For me , what ped said. You get different tones from playing near the bridge and further up the board. If you like tone between the pups, and you use the anchored thumb technique, there's nowhere to anchor, so a ramp fits the bill. I have one on my Basso 4, a nice piece of old ebony
  7. Good speech. Some of those old F's will be investments for sure, but they really need checking out. Though 99% sure if i had that kind of money to spend, i would rather throw it at ACG, or Andy JR or The Gut on here, and i get a bass that's been built with love and passion, rather than what can only be considered a plank
  8. Yes, i guess some old Fenders were special, but i think that's mainly down to the fact they made some rubbish, and the good ones were simply assembled properly. I still believe a lot of prices on old Fenders is based on the fever spreading, to the point were some people are buying old Fenders because they're old. Bit of herd mentality going on somewhere
  9. The fever around 60's and 70's JB 's is exactly that. Fever. Once a fever is kicked off, some people get caught up in it. Now that it's real, in the sense that you can buy to invest, it's probably worth it, but paying that to just play is bordering on fever madness. Old Fenders were nothing special. As said, there wasn't much competition at the time. As always, YMMV
  10. Be careful who you use for shipping. Some parcel delivery services dont insure for musical instruments, but they'll happily take your money and refuse a payout if they lose it or damage it. Read their small print on what they will or wont ship / whats covered and what isnt
  11. I love a bit of Cheech & Chong. The movies were a hoot
  12. Was a pair, now joined in the middle - yeehar
  13. How to turn a bass body into a piece of fruit. What a peach !
  14. PS the flash has changed the colours slightly, but not much. Not all pix were taken with flash
  15. A Rally Basso 4, and Rally is now defunct IIRC. I reckon they undercharged, because these are very well built basses. No balsa wood or plywood in this bad boy. They were around £400+ when new, and they could have, and maybe should, have charged another £100-£150, but then i guess they were an unknown name, in a crowded market of cheap far east shyte, and perhaps this also helped in their decline. They had their own shape too. No bluddy J and P copies All orignal apart from a real Ebony thumb rest between the pups Solid mahogany body, with a rather hefty 15mm flame maple cap. Maple neck with walnut ( or rosewood ) fillet, rosewood fingerboard. 34" scale. Leccies are Vol, Blend, and 2 Tones. Passive, though could easily take a 4 knob active , if one were so inclined. Room to pop a batt in the cavity if routing the body for a batt is a no no 41.77mm nut width, 54.86 width at 12th fret, D shape profile neck , 19mm String spacing , 3.95 kg weight , 24 fret There are some small marks on the body, which can be seen in the pics, but they are small. If you want pristine , concours , etc, this isnt for you I can post for free if wanted, but would rather drive and meet. Long distance maybe halfway each Sound files - our rehearsal meanderings ( also in the recordings forum ) was done on this Basso, apart from the fretless demo track, through a Trace Elliot, 1 mic hanging from the celing for the whole band, https://soundcloud.com/user-perplexus
  16. He hasnt answered a single request going back to December, despite being online 4 hours ago, so likelihood is that its gone, and he hasnt altered the title
  17. Jeez - never thought of T shirts. That needs sorting PS thanks for the pos. feedback , civilian Ricky
  18. It's distressing to know someone was grafting away in the kitchen and no tea came forth. But good job on the board !
