  1. Cheers MBA Good looking geezer too. The women seem to flock round him. Bar steward
  2. "If I tell him the song is in A, then he just needs to ride the A string. He doesn't want to move around the neck, because he might get eaten. He doesn't want to wander off, because that fretboard is a strange, confusing place." Lexxi: "I would lay down breadcrumbs so I could find my way back to the house." Much mirth
  3. Do those necks look skinny or do those necks look skinny ?
  4. Thanks guys, very helpful I have an expoxied rosewood board, so i;m guessing that i need to get the fretboard truer, as mr Manton has suggested. I think i need a pro to level board true for fretless, as i dont think i have the skill to do such work. For certain, there is a choke point on the D string right on the 6th fret.
  5. I dont know if this is a fault, or something built into the software that is something we have to live with, and its regarding the search function I did a search for ' string tension ' and up comes 7 pages, but most of those pages are taken up the posts in threads. Instead of listing just threads that contain posts about string tension, they search comes up with every post in those threads, hence there are pages and pages listed, due to the fact that every post is there, rather than just the threads. Now if you dont like whats on page 1 and hit ' next ' ( or page 2 ) the message ' please wait for XXXX seconds before attempting another search ' pops up It wasn't another search - i was just going to the next page, but the software thinks i've done another search, stops me, and then i have to hit the back button, and try to get to page 2 again, and if i didnt count the seconds properly, i get another message of the same, which is totally weird
  6. Hmm...never thought of string tension. And maybe the neck isnt the problem but just the fretboard ? Maybe the answer is to have a new fretboard, perhaps in Ebony, which seems to be a favourite for fretless. Or even Ebanol , maybe even better. How the hell does one get hold of Ebanol ? Or a complete new bass I had toyed with the idea of a piezo fretless. Most of the great fretless basses i have heard have been piezo based. The Stradi Symphony is just one of many on You Tube that sounds amazing
  7. Andy , i thought i had a low action on my fretless, but the massive ' mwah ' i always wanted is missing. Its ok on the G, ( but not brilliant ) but gets less as i go to the D and less on the A, and even less on the E I have my fretless action set low at the nut, and you cannot slide a credit card under the strings at the nut. Maybe i should have the strings just touching the fretboard at the nut ? I am annoyed that my fretless doesnt sing with mwah like some of the fretlesses i hear and even thought about having a fretless neck built, and asked about this on the forums
  8. Studio recorded, one take for the band, then vocal over the top. The old Python Lee Jackson track which featured Rod Stewart
  9. Nope - no damage or side effects
  10. None this year. We folded last year
  11. Indeed sir, and thank Cliff for Shout ! dubious dirt removal
  12. And some fooling around on fretless https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=single&songid=13670504&q=hi
  13. I've always followed the phiisolop - filopsosoy thought that you can always dirty up clean but hard to clean up dirty. Another ' matron ' moment

  15. Very good. Now go to the back of the class
  16. You can get old TE's to growl as well, you know. Just kick it in the nuts and watch that ' clean ' disappear
  17. Fennel leaves
  18. Ok, just got back I edited one of my For Sale items, and no pop up captchas - i edited twice just to be sure, but nothing. Methinks your tweaks have the magic touch. Have a bourbon biccy on me
  19. Must admit, i do love the sound. Personal i suppose, some hate it. But since our band quit after 6 years, and now i;m just home recording with a gitwrist, it sits in my spare bedroom when i fancy a pluck ( matron )
  20. As of late Charic, i have only got captchas when i've edited a For Sale item. I'm going to edit another to see if they still pop up Watch this space
  21. About 63kg with that 1 x 15 i got off the Greek Jeeez, i just broke into a sweat describing it
  22. If this is any kind of gauge for you, the two switches on my combo, the shape and graphic, needed replacing. Apparently they do give up the ghost on TE amps I also wanted to keep the original TE green switch buttons , but transferring them to the new switches behind the buttons was a right faff, but the tech managed it in the end. He also did a service and PAT test. This all cost me about £100. He wasn't a friend - this is his business But the TE combo is singing nicely
  23. As far as google is concerned, around 43kg for the combo, and Mick knows how much that 1x15 wedge weighs About 20kg Mick ?? Funny - i dont live on the ground floor ( 2nd floor apartment ) but we do have a lift. Bonus !
  24. Weighty though Michael, very weighty
