Good tip terry - cheers I've also read that its worth taking out the main bulk of the routs with forstner bits first. This makes sense to me, and lo and behold i have a set of forstnet bits Does that seem sensible ?

I've already got bits here Terry, so i just need to google ' template router bit ' Seems to me you either need a bit with a movable bearing that followes the template, ( and obviously you move the bearing up the shaft as you need to go deeper - hope thats right ? ) or one that has a shaft the same size as the cutting flutes, so the shaft can butt up against the template I could be wrong , of course

I've yet to ask anyone which type of router bits to use

Lost our voxist due to overbearing and demanding wife. Then other guys lost heart after 6 years of moody prima donna singers and / or wives pulling the plug, yet again. I'm now scratching in the corn for some mature ( say 45+ ish ) time served / gig experienced bands. I've managed 30 years + gigging and have solid decent gear and rig setup. Fretted and fretless bass and of course the obligatory bass players wagonette for haulage purposes Would love to work with decent keys, synth and sax , perhaps non slap funk ( i cant stand slap, sorry ) or jazzy blues, but mostly groove orientated stuff, rather than guitar widdling rock No baggage ( wife / kids ) so free to rehearse and gig pretty much anytime Mine's a double Jack D - ta

Peeps I'm having to make templates for pickup and rear cavity routs, and i decided i want perspex. Trouble is, my memory of cutting perspex a few years ago resulted in it sort of melting back together behind the cut. I was using a jigasw and fine blade. Is there better way to get a clean cut - maybe something like a sharp stanley knife and making lots of cuts over and over again or is this likely to take days ? 5mm Perspex / acrylic is not cheap to practice on so i need to do it once

If anyone watched Howard Goodall's program last night on the making of Pep ( composer of Blackadder title track and much more ) , it was fabulous watching him breakdown the way the Peps tracks were constructed, and just what incredible work and genius those guys used to magic them tracks out of thin air. Even ' within you ' whether you like it or not I have even more respect for their musical prowess than i used to

Saw JT just as Glascock joined Tull. A monster band for sure. I was more of a Cornick fan, but but hey, the list of good musos that have played in JT is pretty damn good. I even had Glen Cornick buy a bass neck from me on Ebay, though he lived in California at the time. He sent one of Tull's drummers over to collect it. That was Clive Bunker.
