Many years ago I stripped the varnish off an old chair leg as I repaired it, then tinted it with a mix of brown and black shoe polish to bring it close to the original colour, and then I revarnished it with a clear varnish. Yes it works, providing the wood surface is not sealed, and provided that you seal it afterwards.

How did you get varnish to stay on a waxy finish like boot polish ?
Some for oddball reason, i figured that the small 6 " drivers in my cabs would not suffer so badly as 10's side by side
Strange little cabs these Markbass 604's ...they sound like you'd expect 15's to sound like. They have some serious low end. I wonder if eight 6" drivers shift as much air as two 15's ?

Somebody was looking for a 4x10 combo recently...

That be me, but its too far away.
He should have been willing to post it
I haven't taken much in the way of photos, so it wont look like a diary. Also, the serious work has to go to someone else, and i dont want to add to
their workload by making them stop for photos at stages
I'll chuck some photos in of the finished article when its done , if thats any good ?
There's a way to go mate
Bridge is under way, then the tuners, but just the elephant ears, not the mech itself
Then more extensive work on body, ( routing and other stuff ) and preamp to fit and cable up
Gonna be a month or so, minimum

White hardware. Why doesn't anyone make White hardware. I expect it will be expensive, but it's the only obvious colour that I think is missing.

I have the V7 4. Anyone else have trouble with the E string saddle longitudinal screw bottoming out before you reach the right intonation? Sire responded to my fb message and said they'd send me a shorter screw. Bit daft. And the E and A strings saddles sit so far over the thru body stringing holes on the bridge they're unusable.

I just checked mine and i dont have either the screw bottoming out problem, or the saddle covering the through body hole problem
I can only assume its down to your choice of strings ... maybe ?
See what you mean now.. no its not an Aerodyne, but its similar.
I'm in talks now with someone who will do it the way i need, i.e. no cap, filling in routs, etc

Could your pickups be re-packaged to fit the existing holes? It might work out cheaper and needs no intrusive surgery
[/quote]
How do you mean repackaged ?
Thats not a term i've heard before
