  1. We are our own FOH engineers. Well, not me personally, but one of the gitards. I'm certainly in the camp of bassists that dont wind up the low EQ. I usually cut that The PA is active with a pair 12" subs. Also i dont play with a pick. I've tried but hated it.
  2. That was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
  3. Yah i got a Line 6 relay G75, so no problem walking out front and having a listen. We'll be checking bass into PA on Monday , no cab, just a monitor.
  4. It may come as a shock but our 2 gitwrists are not the usual raucous overdriven mad axemen The stuff we play doesnt require that .. but there's some good advice here that i will take to next rehearsal.
  5. Black Taylor 250ce Deluxe custom electro 12 string. It's a Taylor so incredibly well built. Craftsmanship ! https://www.reidys.com/acoustic-guitars-c2/taylor-custom-250ce-blk-deluxe-12-string-black-p4207 They range in price from £1429 ( as in link ) to £1499, so i found the cheapest price at Reidys and based the trade value on that price, not 1500 quid Mine has the original custom Taylor fitted hard case. In great condition. There are couple of small marks, but ineviatble on a used item Would prefer a trade for something, possibly cheaper with cash my way - what have you got ? Ta
  6. Yes, the Genz 9.2 shuttlemax has a parametric. I'll try a reduction in gain first, as Nilorius has suggested. Will then experiment with lower and upper mids
  7. I'm not an attack the strings type, so i would take attacking the strings out of the equation. Its not distortion either, thats a different kettle of carp altogether. I wasnt getting any distortion Maybe your suggestion of dialling back bass and treble is something to try, but i'm not seeing how that will work ?
  8. Its always been said that if you want to be heard in a band, mids is where it's at. When i dial the mids, i get heard, but end up with the mid ' growl ' It's not what i always want, but ... to be heard in the mix, its whats needed. I can never get a clean sound by increasing the mids. So whats the answer ? I don't mean sparkly clean either, just clean without growl.
  9. Get down shep
  10. Thomann were pretty good when i ordered a Boss pedal. ( £239 damn cheap, but read on ) With payment made, i sat back, watched a film, tea, popcorn, blah blah. Anyways some hours later, i'm going through some newly arrived emails, and for some reason, re-read the Thomann one and found out i ordered the wrong pedal. Much panic at the keyboard. I contacted them by email thinking there's no way i can cancel this now, but within about 30 mins, Thomann had cancelled my order and as Thomann dont take money off your card until they post the itme, no refund was required I was about to re-order the correct pedal from Thomann, which was another £150 on top , ( £389 ) but suddenly came across another shop in the UK selling the same pedal for £315. Last one in stock so it was reduced and so i snapped this one up instead, but fair play to Thomann. No messing whatsoever.
  11. Anyone with an MM know the distance marked ..and is that standard single MM pickup position ?
  12. Considering it has an asking price of 450, personally , i would have taken at least another 5 or 6 shots of the bass. 1 stinking photo ? Why people dont bother and just believe expensive items sell themselves is a mystery. ( imo it looks like junk ) Lazy oik.
  13. I'm hanging my head in shame I should have known really. I didnt twig because i had a long enough lead to walk well away from the amp, and the buzzing didnt even diminish with distance. The Dean single coil bass is just a sit at home bass while my Basso with humbuckers sits in it's case, ready to take out to rehearsals
  14. Oh FFS. I changed the bass from my passive single coil Dean Bromburg B2 to my active Basso with humbuckers. Problem solved. !!! I cant believe it was just the type of bass pickups that were the problem. My Trace Elliot had no problem with the single coil Dean. Even when i moved round my room away from the Genz with the Dean, it made no difference at all. Soon as i swapped to humbuckers - bingo Thanks to all for jumping in, especially you AH. 👍
  15. Moving the ground lift made no difference at all, not even a tiny bit. The only thing that stops the buzzing is switching to Mic level. The power source is earthed. I opened it up to have a look.
  16. Hard to believe how many of those IEC cables i have where the plug is sealed. I eventually found an IEC mains cable where i could get into the plug itself. There was an Earth connected as well as the usual Live and Neutral. Tried this and again, it made no difference at all. There has to be something awol inside the Genz. There's not much left to try.
  17. Yes i tried both. Moving the GL does nothing. I have no info on the monitor regarding mic / line level. As for earthing, both mains plugs IEC cables ( monitor and amp ) are sealed / molded units, so cannot open them up to check for earths. Maybe the next ting to try is different IEC mains cable for the Genz ? There's no buzz when using the Trace, so i assume the Genz is the problem. Just for elimination purposes, i will change the IEC mains cable for the monitor too. This is acedemic right now though, because these days, most IEC mains cables i have seem to be the molded / sealed type. I'm hoping there's one non-sealed one in my collection
  18. It was and i'd love to have one. I would also like to see inside for how on earth the system works
  19. I moved away from the amp and nothing changed. I also tried the same setup, but using my Trace combo. Same bass, same bass cable, same XLR, and no buzzing at all from the monitor. The Trace has no Pre/Post/Line/Mic options, just the XLR socket. I dont know what the D.I. is set to inside the amp, but the Trace master volume still works, and so does the 12 band graphic, so assume its Post EQ On the Genz, the master volume is taken out of the equation in Post EQ option.
  20. I think the only truly credible fretted to fretless instant conversion is the Mikey Bass, which was out maybe 15 years ago or more. Very innovative. And it really is instant, unlike the perspex flatter Mikey website is gone so i assume they fell on stoney ground
  21. Interesting concept, but jeeeeeeeeeeez, what string height does one need to have on the fretted instrument to be able to slide that thing under them ?
  22. It appears to be Damien Pew playing that bass but there's precious little info on the band itself, let alone Pew 7 Teen was released in '79. They had another single released in '80 called See You Later
  23. Righto, well i definately have sound now, where i didnt before 👍👍 Using Pre + Mic then Pre + Line - too quiet as you foretold. All ok apart from the Volume Using Post + Mic, ok. Using Post + Line, loud buzzing. This is with all EQ set flat, ( apart from Freq knobs ), and bringing gain up while Channel Vol at 1.00 With bass plugged in the GB, but not played, the buzzing gets louder if i turn up either CH 1 Gain or Ch 1 Vol ..or both Sound file attached. You can hear the open E initially + buzzing. The buzzing appears to get a tad louder, but its just the bass note fading making it seem louder buzzmp3.mp3
  24. Thanks, I'll go through that procedure , but i have already tested the XLR cable, and the monitor. The monitor has no line/mic switch. They're both ok.
