2. Had a problem here http://basschat.co.u...loss-of-volume/ So looked around the forums and chose Hotrod , formerly Wizard, and phoned Dave Walsh. Dave picked up the phone immediately, we chinwagged and he already guessed the problem before i could tell him, and so off it went in the post to Dave. I asked Dave to wind on a tad more output , which he did ( 9.25 k ) even though i suppose it wasnt that necessary. I gave him the neck meaurement at 7.88 so he chose 9.25 for the poorly bridge pickup. Basically it means i end up with less discrepancy between the bridge and neck pup heights, thats all I also asked for some extra low mids, as its what i love the most, and again, not strictly necessary as the jazz bridge pup has sufficient, but what the hell, a bit more wouldn't do any harm and since Dave had to re-wind the pup anyways, why not. He told me it was around a 1000 winds Well, the pup arrived in great time, and before i'd even paid for it. I thought he'd phone first and we could do payment on the blower, but no, he posted it out and so i needed to call him to make the payment. Stuck the pup back in, and ipso facto, lovely. As asked for, a tad more output though nothing massive, and a tad more low mids, again nothing massive. Dave had even stuck the pup in an old jazz plastic pup cover for extra protection in the post Praise indeed. Communication = Excellent. The job itself = excellent. Customer service / attitude = excellent Highly recommended if you ever have pickup problems Thanks Dave
3. That Entwhistle PBXN is a monster. I have one fitted in a J/P bass. The price is incredible too. Its a pickup i would check out. I didnt have to deepen the rout on my bass to fit it in
4. As kev B stated - love a bit of Living in the Past Also, this is a killer, with brilliant double bassister Danny Thompson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9gCN9-Jnfg

7. Its got a valve , i tell ya ! Everyone knows if you add a valve, it becomes godlike
8. Caught Hawkwind at the North London Edmonton Sundown in the 70's ( sadly long gone ) and a few of the free festivals in the 70's, which they always seem to manage to play no matter where they were
9. Perhaps Zon and their ilk should take a peek at the internet and read what customers are saying about them. I'd be horrified if it were my business and this thread came into my view. If i were in the market for a boutique, Zon would not be on my list. ACG would though, and a few others. Feedback from the Bass community is everything
10. You're a mine of info Dave. Never knew turner was from headington !! Havent seen Hawkwind since Lemmy left

14. There is very little morality in commercialism. Or rather ' Capitalism ' Its the system we live in, as do millions around the planet. Capitalism is based on greed . Well mostly, anyways There'll be a lot worse than that ebay seller in the world As someone already said .. Caveat Emptor. What else is there to say ?
15. Our lead git is by far the worst
16. You wont be disappointed - even at 1lb heavier than your Sad
17.
Just checked it on the bathroom scales .. cant speak for their accuracy though , but the bass came out at 4.3kg , around 9.4 Lbs
23. I also got mine from Thomann - the natural swamp ash jobbie, just like Lobematt's but its a 4 banger Mine was virtually playable out of the box. All i did was raise the bridge pup a tad and lower the neck pup a tad. Everything was incredibly well setup. String height - bang on. Intonation - bang on. No sharp fret edges, no flaws in the varnish, nice heavy chrome bridge with option of thru body stringing. None of your flimsy tinny Fendery L shape bridges Fairly decent preamp with a nice Mid freq. sweep & boost Its just about unbeatable for the price. Nice work Sire
