  1. A second hand ESP LTD is a pretty good purchase. This is the new price .. https://www.thomann.de/gb/esp_ltd_b204sm_fl_natural_satin.htm I had that exact model in the past. Sold it here for under 300 quid. And this is what it sounds like :
  2. Thanks - that's a useful measurement
  3. The positions are almost endless. Anything from an MM position, Precision, and the Greek's Citron way up away from the bridge, and anything inbetween all of them I originally thought MM position, but having others post their opinions has made me think. Glad i asked
  4. I remember that bass , awesome thing. I hadnt contemplated mounting the pickup that far forward though
  5. Awesome - thanks !
  6. What distance was that from the bridge ?
  7. Just for simplicty, i'm contemplating just leaving the soapbar in Series
  8. Yes that would be a consideration i hadnt thought of. I may just leave it in series
  9. That's exactly my question - how far from the bridge. It's a soapbar though, not MM
  10. You'd be wise to edit your post and remove your contact details. This is a public forum so anyone can see it. Private message Pete instead
  11. Bretheren, i'd like some opinions on where you lowlife comrades would place a single pickup on a fretless bass body. I understand this is as much subjective as anything else to do with basses, because it's personal, so there is no wrong opinion. All opinions are valid. It's a coil tappable humbucker, but whether i tap it, i dont know yet. Leccies will be passive, Vol , Tone, 6 position Varitone. ( well, 5 as 1 is bypass ) If it makes a difference to opinions, it's 34" scale Let me ave 'em
  12. And so it goes on - bar stewards. Useless Parcel Service.
  13. I'm not gutted we had to sack the scounging croaking lazy tightwad. Sister's nice though.
  14. Where do you hang the anal papyrus roll ?
  15. If Carlsberg Stradivarius made basses, they'd probably be the best basses in the world.
  16. Its odd to hear such expensive basses having horrid actions / setups. I've had a few cheap basses in my life and all of them were fine. All basses need to be setup for the player because it's so personal. I had an 80 quid Chase Guvnor bass that was damn good. Set it up for my particular needs. Bit of a one trick pony tone wise, but that was it's only problem. I had a Vintage MM copy and was also an excellent bass for the price. A few tweaks here and there. I fitted a UK Warman MM in place of the Wilky MM and it improved tone wise, but that's subjective anyway.
  17. Oh yeah ! Black Widow. Cab and driver have long gone
  18. 100% How about one of Fender's nasty old planks .. 24,480 Euros. Ugh https://www.vintageandrare.com/product/Fender-1968-Telecaster-Bass-Paisley-Red-4.35kg-1968-97806
  19. Had one on my Peavey C4 - a nice lump of solid 8mm Ebony. Used more as a thumb rest than anything else
  20. Yes, i think he played with ex Orchestra players rather than the band themselves, so thanks for the correction. Mind transplant is sublime Dont wanna interupt a Purple thread anymore so do a YT search for Mouzon's Snowbound - terrific track
  21. I thought the 3 laws of Hoffman ( pick any 2 ) were low, light, loud rather than cheap , light , loud ? Could be wrong !
  22. Bolin was a guitar god. Way out of Blackmore's league. As an aside from Purple stuff, check out Billy Cobham's album Spectrum for some Bolin acrobatics He played with jazzers Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Alphonse Mouzon as well
  23. Good 50 min docu ..
  24. Only ever caught them live just as Coverdale joined, but loved Gillan so much more Come on then... let's 'av it.
  25. Someone asked the same question, and got a similar response. If you dont have FB, no one will tell you. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/471496-hw-rickenbacker/
