  1. Yup, did the single valve re-seat, but many of the solder joints are hidden, so unless i dismantle the amp, there's no way i can get to them. I did press the IC's I'll leave it alone now, as i seem to have sorted it, but i dont know how
  2. After poking and pushing, static/crackle seems to have disappeared, and that's before i put a short cable in the master FX send / receive channel, so i guess i dont need that FX send sockets cable anymore ? I guess time will tell
  3. No swollen caps, no burnt smell, connectors that i could reach without dismantling PCB boards reseated
  4. Looking at the hundreds of solder joints, and their location, i may have trouble in that respect
  5. Thanks ! I'll have a go at all that - the amp is Genz Shuttlemax 9.2
  6. Just to say, the amp plays fine otherwise. No loss of volume or EQ , and the crackle/static doesnt get louder with amp volume
  7. I've checked the suspect bits - speakon cables, guitar cables, and swapped amps, and its definately the amp. It has dual speakon outs and the crackle/static is apparent on both outputs. It's also a dual channel, ( Tube + Fet ) and swapping channels makes no difference. What is the next procedure for a home detective before it goes to a pro ?
  8. M13 with 2 extras The little box velcroed on the right is the SFX micro thumpinator

  10. Nursery Crime for me is the killer discette
  11. There's not a lot of room internally, so how did they get you inside ? Unless the rock musician version of you is about 1" tall.
  12. I could get away 10mm of bush thread, but i forgot to mention, i'm after full size pots. Strangely, i have a pair of Solid shaft 10mm thread, 6.35 shaft, CTS 250k Lin pots here, and i need another pair, but JHC, i cant find them anywhere. I'd really like matching brand, but no luck, hence looking for non matching pair
  13. I'm struggling to find some 250k Lin pots with a decent thread length on the bush, and also solid shaft. 15mm - ish threaded bush length is what i need. I checked for the quality names , CTS, Bourns.. but nothing pops up. Either they're split shaft, or short threaded bush, or both. Tried all the usual suspects - Axes R Us, CPC Farnell, RS Online, Mouser Elecs , guitar shops blah blah. Even Thomann .. Can anyone point me to a source ? Ta
  14. Dont forget to buy a portable winch. TE 2x15 1524 = 103 Lbs - ish
  15. Get one of the Shuttlemax dual channels. Awesome
  16. ...and again. An amp this time. Great packing as before.
  17. I doubt you would hear much difference between 500 and 800
  18. That looks like it'll need sanding and respraying. Something like Meguiars scratch remover is the ultimate stuff, but those scratches look too far gone
  19. I swapped out a Wilkinson MM pickup for a Warman MM and it was superb. I know its not specifically a P but if it's the quality of Warman pickups you're insterested in, have no fear
  20. Practically brand new AMPEG PF 500 , with original shipping boxes, inner and outer , both stamped Ampeg PF 500. Plus original Ampeg paperwork ( unopened ) and mains power lead Bought new by me early May , and has not left my house, or been gigged. I'm going back to a dual channel amp, and thats the only reason for selling. It's a superb amp, pokey, lightweight , and with a decent EQ Prefer collection, but will post at cost
  21. Yeah i guess i can throw the surplus parts in a draw. I'm surprised i can't buy a pair of those in a kit. The install accessories would then be tailored for 2 pickups.
