  1. Leburn How would you know they didnt tell him how to behave , a fabrication, just like the rest of the program. They're deliberately squeezing in drama. I blame Chris Tarrant's millionaire producers way way back on that quiz. " And pause for the result .. wait for it ... hang on... just a bit more... " Etc etc Create tension. Now that phoney tension is everywhere on TV like a bad rash. If you knew Leburn, you'd realise how professional he was, even if he isnt a top A list artist.
  2. No swifts, because i'm having the same Andy ( AJR ) decal for the headstock that Andy arranged for me when he built my single cut Nemesis The logo/decal is looking a bit tatty now, as i'm not exactly pristine with my basses. It will look even more at home on a black headstock And yes, it will be just as awesome. Andy is not spraying the neck, so the logo wont appear on the neck in this thread
  3. Isn't tick tock for under 15's ?
  4. They are the covers, so yes MEC is on there
  5. Oh and the Northwest Gits Jazz body ( gloss black, poly varnished ) will be re-routed to fit these bad boys.
  6. Before @Andyjr1515 has a chance to slither out of his rocking chair spilling Werthers Originals all over his lino and start this thread, i thought i'd jump the gun a smidge and save the ol' fella some time. He can even guzzle his Ovaltine in peace. The doddery woodcrafter extraordinaire is going to build me a custom neck. Starting with some type of Maple , a Richlite diamond fingerboard, Ebony headstock plate, 22 EVO gold frets, 34" scale , zero fret, Tusq nut, etc. The wizard will be along shortly. No offence Andrew. We're pretty much a similar age, and i already drink Ovaltine Watch this space at your peril.
  7. I just checked who gonzalo giron is to see if they had uploaded any more vids with interesting spelling. At least they got Leburn's name right Mep
  8. I'm guessing, but it's just a guess, that it could be Bob Marley's Exodus. I could be wrong.
  9. I suspect the producers have groomed them all to fack things up for a bit of drama
  10. Agreed. A big yawn for him. They could have picked a thousand better songs.
  11. Ditto.
  12. It does look like just another ' inject tension ' into yet another reality tv prog that now seems to dominate our screens. Moving along, american Leburn is the most pro muso in the line up. Apart from him , and his band at the time , playing at my pals birthday do, i've seen him live elsewhere, like the Jericho Tavern blues night. I think he's already pretty damn good, regardless of whether you like his music or not.
  13. That would be ok if all basses had the same look after intonation. Here's two , one that is staggered uniformly and one that isn't.
  14. So how do they decide where the saddles actually go? Normally, when i fit a fixed bridge to say a 34" scale, i measure where the 34" mark falls on the body, and set the saddles at the midway point to allow adjustment either forward or backward in the bridge. Surely staggering the mono rails, one would be guessing on where to set the saddles ?
  15. It was just an example really. There are plenty of other examples. I was merely asking what the point was of staggering them
  16. Why do some builders ( disregarding span fret basses ) who use mono rail bridges, stagger mount them rather than just line them up equal like a fixed bridge ? Is there some intonation thing going on ?
  17. Playing live is the end result and joy of all the pain of learning the instrument. The colossal amount of Queen's sovs i've invested ( and lost ) over the years also inspires me to keep on keeping on. Otherwise , why ? I've done the band route like most and have run the gamut of members feeble excuses for missing rehearsals... my kid has an ingrowing eyelash , the mrs has changed her ladies night , there's a vowel in the month, full moon, blah de blah. I've been in bands where the " the leader " was a tyrant and simply would not tolerate criticism, a lead guitarist who during a gig would play, without fail, at least one lead guitar part a semi-tone out. So predictable that we started calling him semi-tone. So, right now, i'm in the process of setting up a duo with backing tracks. It means more hard work, as i have to play all the recorded drum backing tracks, and double up on guitar for some stuff. But at least my partner in crime is a good bloke, has rehearsal space at his enormous gaff, recording equipment , plays the main guitar and does vocals. He also has a very understanding wife. Kids all grown and have foxtrot oscared out of the house. It's a good place to be
  18. Ah, Gaucho .. another stunner of an album. Becker is such a cracking musician. He's on bass duties here on Hey 19.
  19. I was transfixed watching this. Great TV ! spooky bit .. i know Leburn Maddox with the dreads, the acoustic player. I've met him a couple of times. He even played at mrs bag's birthday party with Spy Austin and Sam Kelly, as mrs bag and Leburn are good pals
  20. I don't think about it. I just play it.
  21. Ah, ok I thought all the SRH 500 models were the same, just fretted or fretless
  22. Man those drums - Gadd is awesome
