  1. I cant stand either country or western
  2. It's a funny old world. I've been in all male bands, and a couple with a female/females. It doesnt matter to me either way. I've no problem with an all female band only wanting female members and the same with the men wanting only men. It just depends on the reasons for it. I was in a 5 piece back a few years, and we had a string of singers , including one woman. Things got weird at one rehearsal when she refused to sing certain lyrics in a Black Crowes song, Hard To Handle. Those words being "That ain't nothin' but drugstore lovin' " and also " That ain't nothing but ten cent lovin' " Then she sits on the floor crossed legged like in meditation, and started sulking. Bit strange. We had to let her go, but then we let 3 different male singers go for other reasons. At least the woman could sing. As could our bloke singer from India. We had some trouble with a nutter in the audience at one gig, which scared him. It didnt bother anyone else, because we had enough big scary blokes in the band already, and we made it clear to the unruly geezer, but our singer quit. One bloke we sacked because he hadnt rehearsed, turned up at a gig, and forgot the words to the first track. LL told us not to come back if he was still in the band. I wouldn't be comfortable in some monstrously macho band. Then again, i'm sure there are some equivalent female bands that could tear it up in the same fashion, just that i believe there to be less of them than toxic male bands. The female band L7 springs to mind.
  3. Vague at this point. Plenty of women out there that can fill a spot in that type of band, but we dont know why the ' no women ' as yet. It's certainly nothing to do with touring, going by his ad. Bedroom musician right now, so it seems, till he has more members. I'm guessing he's old school attitude at this point, and simply wont entertain a female in his supergroup. Bit myopic to say the least, if indeed that is his reasoning
  4. There are a few acceptable reasons why it would be " we dont want women in the band " and the legitmate reasons have been stated here, so no need to go gung ho PC yet. Ask, and then be offended afterwards or not, as the case maybe. When myself and a friend started a funk band , us lads tried to be the vocalists and we were pretty awful. We ended up with 3 extra members, all female, who took on the job of main vocals and 2 backing vocals, and it made the band. We were lucky to have them join.
  5. Recycle the bar steward Lurky. Mine's gone
  6. The easiest way to sort this till ped changes the rubber bands is to just refresh the page yourself manually after you've made a post
  7. Those Just-A-Nut things or whatever they'e called by Warwick are excellent. But cliff dammit, that price ! No.
  8. I had an even more brutal method
  9. Horrible. I've seen oven door hinges that look better than that
  10. Yep me too, just randomly on Firefox, but it's all good. This post stalled
  11. Yep me too, just randomly on Firefox, but it's all good.
  12. No AT, ain't mine bud. Weird looking thing though, eh
  13. This bridge ? This is a Hamer Cruise, as you mentioned
  14. I dont fancy the the Torpedos, but i do like those RML claw bridges. Better this and better that ? Not bothered really, as a lot of people buy stuff that looks good, and not necessarily that it has be an improvement, so i'd buy the claw regardless
  15. Thanks chap Decided to have it sprayed by a friend now, as i dont think i could do a good enough job
  16. Apart from the above reasons, there's a rather large ( i think ) group of people who have invested ( rich gits ) thousands and thousands in top flight decks, outboard phono stages, snake oil cabling, separates amp/preamp, decoupling hifi supports and so on. Could easily top a couple of hundred grand. Ok, they're the rare group, but the lower orders could easily reach 10k. I would be buying vinyl now it's back, if i ever owned such a costly vinyl sound system. Mind you, even CD sound systems got to giddy heights. 20, 30k for CD transports and so on. I remember some top flight Onkyo amps costing 30k. And Barclay CD tranpsorts costing as much
  17. I have a wee thought on this. How much better can bridges get ? There's been some innovations decades ago, but eventually the improvements have got smaller and smaller, as they cant keep getting improved forever. The innovations are dimiinishing. Marketing cowpat is where its at. Think toothpaste. Ever since i was a kid, toothpastes have been re-vented and re-invented ad infinitum. Sure they may have improved in big leaps early on but every year or 2, toothpaste marketing tells us that this product and that product will kill off placque and reduce gum disease by some huge percentage, and we get even whiter teeth from Colgate's new paste. Other toothpastes are available If that were really the case, there wouldnt be anyone with placque or gum disease, and even whiter ? What again ? Everyone's teeth would look like a set of snow white glowing gnashers. Marketing is king.
  18. At this point, i'd say he is. Many of the vast amount of popular bridges have customer feedback, which Sid doesn't have right now, and how many of those manufacturers brought videos out on how they improve on any previous designs ? They might be out there but i've never seen one. So buyers are buying on the manufacturers say so. So after Sid sells some, then feedback from buyers is where its at.
  19. £40 is not realistic. Even the Schaller 3d bridges , mass produced, probably no hand polishing either ( maybe, i dont know ) but they retail between £85 and £100
  20. Now that is one spanking bridge. If Schaller 3d's had that it would also be perfect
  21. I like the look of the bridge, just i would never pay that much for one, ever. I wince at the the price of Schallers 3d 3 way adjustables, and i love those bad boys
  22. Bass player in the band was JJ Burnel. Jean Jackets Burnel to his mates
