  1. I speak with forked tongue. Just realised mine was one of the early V7 MM jobs. Still, the rest of the above still counts
  2. I had the early Sire a while ago, and didnt get on with the tone, so i tried Barts and it didnt improve ( not for my taste anyways ) so it's probably the preamp. Thats just my take, and other owners / modders will have a different experience
  3. I just measured my Roksak case and i started with length, and it's 127 cm inside. Marvellous. I was given it free of charge by Wunjos when i bought one of the weird shaped Overwater classics. Very long bass, and Wunjos tried a few cases and they weren't long enough. But just measured the upperhorn approx 50cm up from the bottom and my case is not wide enough at that point. ( you need 35cm ) Shame Pete's Tribal Planet doesn't fit the bill. They're the most awesome non solid case i've ever seen. You can stand on 'em for cliff's sake. I still have one. Shame they no longer make them, as nothing comes close to them in the non solid case bag business
  4. It'll do that just nicely, although 4 times louder is pushing it.
  5. Probably a tad louder unplugged than a solid unplugged, and you could play with an acoustic if they didnt play too loud Tone ? Well unplugged it has no bottom end, as you'd expect, and quite twangy, since it's not an acoustic bass.
  6. Floating for me, as i dont like stretching, or keeping my plucking hand in one place. You get more tones over and above your bass eq and amp eq by moving the plucking hand nearer the neck or nearer the bridge. Also, muting comes from both hands, not just the plucking hand
  7. Like a broken pencil. Pointless.
  8. Likewise. I even had tickets to see him but covid facked all that up. Got refunded. I currently have an Ibanez SRHF 4 banger, and love it. Previously to that, i had an upright NS design NXT4 and an ESP LTD spalt maple. I wacked out this track with the ESP with a pal on guitar/keys. He did guitar keys and programming, i did bass and drums. It was just a bit of fun, nothing more
  9. I have an SRHF, and its pretty fabulous IMO. Quite lightweight and very slim neck, typical Ibanez neck, but that suits me. Mwah with tapewound flats is plentiful, though i have removed my LaBella Deep Talkin Black Nylon flats for some Deep Talkin whites
  10. Tell me about it - he has a bass of mine as we speak. Took 2 weeks just to book it in Still, this wasn't a hurry job
  11. There's a couple of guys i know personally Dave Smart - he's a wizard, and he doesn't bodge to keep prices silly cheap. If you want a good job done.... I've used him countless times over the years. He's done many basses for me, but the most awkward thing he did was fixing switches on a vintage Trace Elliot 4x10 Combo. They were a right bar steward. Those little green push button jobs - he managed it and then serviced the amp and checked it over https://www.smartguitars.co.uk/
  12. Free to a horrible home. Years of life left in it Collect from West Oxon
  13. There's a review of the Boss CS3, in case it does some things you dont like. There's actually hundreds of reviews on compressors, though it looks there's not much on very modern ones http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/bosscs3.shtml
  14. Steve Marriot, by the way.
  15. " Life is just a bowl of All-bran "
  16. Thats just how capitalism works. Just about every corporate monster keeps re-inventing.
  17. Me too, though there are 3 models in this shape with those style pickups. I had a the Motion B 1 with the monster bridge Awesome bass
  18. Thanks Matt, seems like a good option. As i need a 2nd pedal, that might be the one to get
  19. Karate punch board
  20. Ta AT So, D'addario. I think they make them for Fender. Could be mistaken
  21. I usually take off strings fitted to basses i've sold in the past, putting new strings on ..though not every time But those i take off , if in good nick, get coiled up and chucked in my accessories draw, but i never seem to remember to keep the packaging when i buy strings so any strings removed become ' unkown make ' after a few months. Just out of curiosity , i fished out some decent strings today but i'm wondering what they are. Hoping the colours are a clue. There's no silk wraps at the tuner end
  22. PS those Bright Onion pedals look like biz.
  23. Basically, i dont need both instruments to be live at the same time, but both amps will be. When we say amps, one is the bass amp, and the other is the desk I'll say it again, this time with the pedal in case i confused anyone. Both bass and acoustic wil be sharing an FX pedal ( has 1 in and 1 out ) so if i connnect both instruments into a 2 input switch box first, then out of the switch box is 1 output. That 1 output then goes to FX pedal input. Then out of the FX pedal into another AB , so each each instrument can be spilt off. Bass to bass rig /amp and Acoustic to the desk I guess ABY is not needed , just 2 AB boxes - does that sound more correct. I never need to combine bass and acoustic, so i guess the Y function of the switches is not needed I think
  24. I'll PM
  25. I had a think and it seems you are bang on. !
