  1. Possibly dark , but not lacking in tone. Certainly not woolly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5_2s_giF_U
  2. Already had the sink out before i started the thread. It's right royal pain, i'll tell ya. I didnt see anything untoward, so i guess as it's a home amp only, i'll live with one channel. Facking ebay sellers are nothing but criminals
  3. Ok Sub, i did the swap. Jeeeeeeez i had to use pliers and brace the board as i pulled up. They were frigging tight. Got nothing. Switched the cables back, and got my one working channel back. The same one that was working before, that is.
  4. Ok, gotcha. I see where you mean now. Posting a pic... Yep, i could swap those and see. Let ya know !
  5. PS ... DeOxit didnt do anything.
  6. Do you mean the orange wires on white plugs as marked ? They're labelled CN 1 and CN 2 so i presume you meant these 2 I dont see orange and white together. I'll try the swap and see if it changes the fault. Yup, nothing burnt from looking inside, not that i can see anyways. Is it possible to remove the heatsink and have access to the IC's ?
  7. Its stereo ( not bridgeable ) 2 x 500 watt @ 4 ohms or 2 x 350 watt @ 8 ohms It has 2 fuses inside, marked on photo , and they both seem fine. I'll take your advice on the jacks and try some DeOxit. They cant be removed due to having to completely dismantle that top circuit board
  8. My W Audio XTR 1000 has developed a duff channel. The other cahnnel is fine, so we can rule out the speakon cable. It powers up fine. The power on blue light + both red channel lights appear on powering up, then both red channel lights go out , signalling amp is ready But only getting power from 1 channel. As we look down on the photo, the right channel is the working channel, left is the duff one with speakon connected. Anything i can check, assuming i'm an idiot ? Thanks. I know photos are barely helpful, but just in case ..
  9. My humble setup, on a board thats a gnat's appendage too small.
  10. G'dday mate
  11. Bluddy Hermes. The only parcel i ever had stolen was by a Hermes driver. I wouldnt use them to post a paperclip.
  12. Trying to I.D. these strings I have 2 basses fitted with ( at a glance ) the same strings. They look identical to each other regarding the silks. My trouble is that i'm officially colour blind, though this doesn't mean i cant see different colours. I only have trouble when 2 colours are very close to each other. The silks on both these basses could be deep blue or purple when i look at them. Other info is Gold ball ends on both. Also they're flats. I think they maybe GHS Brite flats , but due to time passing, i cannot be sure. Anyone use GHS Brite flats ...?
  13. For UK deliveries : If anyone would rather have a no hassle bass sale and needs a courier, use https://lenspeedlogistics.com/services/single-guitar-delivery-from-55/ Scroll down to coloured map to see where they deliver in the UK mainland for the 55 quid price. They dont require a hard case. They dont even require a cardboard box. A padded gigbag will do. If you phone up , you get the boss, Len, who's a good bloke. They deal with a lot of antiques as well as bass gear, so are ultra careful with your goods. They are of course fully insured. They may not be quick. This is because they're a small outfit, and to make money, they need to coincide a pickup with other jobs near to you. Its sheer luck if they have gear to deliver or pickup in your area within a day or two, so it's 50-50 if you get a quick pickup or not. I have waited a week before for a collection from me, but i live way down the country compared to Lenspeed. I've already used them several times, and have posted on BC about them before. They did stirlings jobs everytime and Len's courier will keep you updated. A fabulous service
  14. Put the jazz ciggy down and look at their website. Jeeeeeeeez, the yoof of today get lazier every year
  15. Cant speak for instruments, as i've never bought a bass off 'em, but the double padded case i did buy is absolutely mustard
  16. What if the case is checked on the way out ? Probably better to stuff a really cheap bag '0 shyte in the case, just in ..er, case
  17. Some fun featuring Charles Berthoud - thoroughly enjoyed this 😀

  18. You need to decide whether you want to sell on commisiion or direct to the shop. They dont all do commisiion sales.
  19. Yup, fretless on 2 tracks of ours
  20. Great musicians but just a mess of music. No ta
  21. Stumbled on this - Thomas Dolby's the making of SBMWS. I always admired Dolby, and he always seemed like a genuine human being, as well as a fabulous composer. Has a great sense of humour too, IMO
  22. What a load of smug tosh Same here - i got right royally stuffed for over a hundred quid using Paypal, but because the courier registered that it was " delivered " they wouldnt accept it was " ITEM NOT RECEIVED " I saw no proof of signature. They didnt have one. I was furious, so i contacted my bank, which were reluctant to help at first, because it was a debit visa card and it was involving Paypal. Should have used a credit card, but they came good in the end. I got a rather aggrieved email from Paypal, and i told them in polite words to Foxtrot Oscar. I dont use Paypal anymore. So if anyone mentions, quote : "If someone says to me they have a problem with their PayPal account I halt the sale and block them" I dont give a hoot, and you lose a sale.
