3. yep it is indeed kev - pm about to be sent
4. fancy a trade for a lakland bob glaub?
5. I'm liking the idea of getting a JO5 and having a precision pickup put in the neck position- I don't fancy waiting for the bob glaub 5 to come out
6.
Just needed to know in case I need some cash in the future with this job evaluation thing happening around the country to council employees, would probably sell and get one of those cheap Hartke if I run into harder times!
Ah job evaluation - aka - trying to find an excuse to pay you less money Hope it goes ok
7. That does look very very good indeed but I can't really buy anything until my bob glaub shifts
8.
Dont fancy swapping for a skyline Duck Dunn do you ;-)
That looks like a great bass, but I'm only getting rid of my glaub due to it only having 4 strings cheers for the offer ;D
9. These are stunningly good cabs - I've used mine standalone for years

12. Hi Terry, what scale length is it? Cheers! Russ
13. Here's the long overdue video demonstrating the electronics - firstly, the strings are brand new elites stadiums 40-100, lighter than my usual 45's they've not had chance to calm down and I've not bothered to sort the truss rod out to compensate for the lower tension - so forgive the w***y nature of the clip, I got carried away It does sort of do the job though. I start with the booster off and the tone rolled back a tiny bit, do a bit of fingerstyle and a bit of slap before going up to the next setting. I then turn the booster off and turn the mid shape to 50% followed by 100%, then 50% on mid shape and #2 on booster ... I think, can't really remember but you can hear the differences - I think it sounds excellent even with the zingy strings. When they finally bring out a skyline 5 string glaub, I'm having one. It sounds Tits M'Chicken with a pick aswell.
14. blimey
15. still available - I might be able to put the extra on top if someone wants to trade a 55-02 (lakland electronics) or a JO5
16. lakland skyline darryl jones or joe osborn 4 or 5 string - they're the tits
17.
Hi mate What's the spec on this bass? (Is it new, loaded with the GB LED/Controller system etc) because (without the benefit of knowing said specs) it seems pricey to me I have had two basses (a rumour and a spitfire) custom built for me by Bernie and all I'll say is, for that kind of money, it'd be worth talking to the man himself! Cheers Dave
+1 - you'll get a new one for that I played a couple of gigs with a GB 5 string, whilst it was a great instrument - it was certainly no j bass, the dual coil-ness and placement of the pickups along with the active circuit see to that.
18. bump - still available - and I'm still gassing for that valve amp
19.
think i'm going to base it around a orange mkII but replace the tone stack section with an active one akin to the one in sound city 200 and give the power amp section a revamp so its running 4 kt77s and underrun them so i get around 80 very clean and loud watts that will start to overdrive nicely as i get the amp to fullish volume. Put it in a pine enclosure and it should all stay under 20kgs!
That sounds nice - I'm currently really after an orange ad200b
20. My basses are getting progressively cheaper as the years roll along - I used to have a pair of £1400 (secondhand) sei basses, both my current basses combined cost less than one of those and I'm far happier. The £450 CIJ '75 reissue jazz I had was probably the best 4 string I've ever played, and I only sold it to get as close to a 5 string equivalent as I could.
21. + shipping and about 22% on top to import - I'd keep an eye out for one over here
22. That's a great looking bass ;D
23. The tort plate and pickup cover make so much difference to the overall look of that bass - the whole rig looks really tidy ;D nice

Sadowsky

I've been thinking about treating myself to a really nice high end 5 string jazz mid next year but I'm having a tough time justifying it to myself, my (skyline) lakland dj5 is so close to my perfect bass, it seems silly to spend an extra £800+ on something that'll be only marginally better, if at all. If I found something that absolutely wiped the floor with the dj5, I'd be happy to drop a good deal of money on buying it. The sadowsky uv70 5 string I had was a really nice bass but no where near as good as my dj5 - but then again, I prefer a passive jazz sound 90% of the time and I've not played another sadowsky. Definitely see if you can try a dj4 or jo4 if you've not already - if you want a preamp it'll still cost you less to install one overall, you could even get a sadowsky onboard pre.
25. I'd love this but Yorkshire is a bit too far away
