There is a limiter but its non adjustable and its for the power section (its in the manual) so if there is distortion at low levels i doubt its to do with this. The limiter is to keep the output clean at higher levels i believe. I still think taking a feed from the preamp out to something else will help to eliminate the power stage.
Yep- there is a non defeatable limiter before the power section
My sound has taken a u-turn recently. Orange AD200B, Berg NV610, Streamer Stage 1... filth.....
Now I do like the look of this - I've wanted an AD200B for ages

That MPG Level 5 was a great bass but I really didn't appreciate it enough at the time - It would suit me down to the ground now. It sounded really huge- 35" scale + emg DC's, very nice. I had considered getting matt to build me one of his standard range 5JJ's but I bought a lakland dj5 which is excellent. r

I've got a Fender Deluxe tweed hard case (bass) for sale - it's in pretty much unused condition, one of the catches is a wee bit stiff but it does work. They retail for about £175 - but there are loads of 3rd party ones floating about- I'm after £70 collected from Egham, Guildford or Brighton. I'd be interested in a trade for a decent gig bag, Aguilar db924, sadowsky outboard preamp or a boss OC-2 + cash. It's in the pic below- I'll get some better ones up when I'm home tomorrow.

I like this amp a lot, it sounds great - but after lugging my whole rig up into my new flat I'm now looking to save a few kg's wherever I can, both my cabs are light so this is the obvious component to swap out although it's still pretty light. I actually prefer the sound of this to the smaller markbass heads by quite a long way but a littlemark would do me fine with the added bonus of being stupidly light. I've gigged it about 5-6 times only- rehearsal maybe 10 times- it's in mint condition, bought new, I still have the original box. REDUCED to £400 cash with the rack or a trade for a current generation Markbass LMII, LMK, F1, R500, sa450 or Genz-benz shuttle 6 £375 + postage without the rack I'm now based in Egham, Surrey, I work in Guildford and travel back to Brighton about once a week. It's in the pic below;

Official 'Bathroom Scales' weight of my new 1x15: 17kg/37.5lbs My trusty markbass 2x10, also a 1 hand lift comes in at 24kg/53lbs on the same scales - slightly different from the official spec so the above weight for the 1x15 might be a little lower in reality. Rather impressive I must say - I've got a gig this evening which will be its first outing.

The 35" scale didn't take me long to get used to, but my Bob glaub feels rather small in comparison now.

I had an older sadowsky tokyo UV70's 5 string and now play a lakland DJ5 - I prefer the lakland, plus it's far better value for money and there are quite a few floating around on the used market. Also it really doesn't require an active pre IMO it's got tonnes of low end and plenty of top already. Build quality is equivalent, both being flawless as far as I'm concerned - the DJ5's I've played have all been lighter than the metro sadowsky 5's I've had experience with - not sure if this is across the board. SR5's are completely different beasts, but still great in their own way - I've had a couple in the past and hope to get hold of another single H model in the next year or so. A skyline 55-02 would be a good choice aswell - I personally think the new lakland electronics are a big step up from the older barts.

I'd been playing active basses for years, and was certain a 5 string bass needed to be active to get the sound I was after - After buying a CIJ 75 reissue jazz, I stuck an audere preamp straight in before I'd played it passive - after a couple of days of not being able to get anywhere near the tone I was after, I took the preamp out and there it was, spot on- that audere was anything but transparent. I liked that jazz so much I replaced my SR5HH with a passive lakland DJ5 which works far better for me - I've also just got my hands on a Lakland bob glaub which is excellent, my first precision. So- I'm running all passive now- my pedals sound better too ;D Russ

Who's up for another South East Bass Bash?

Sounds good, I'm moving up to surrey around this sort of time, provided it doesn't clash with the relocation I'm up for it. -
