I'm depping for Paul (rockingbassman) again tonight at the Oceana Deep Bar in Brighton from 8.30pm onwards. It'll be great to see any of you down there- cheap drinks, free entry, no dress code. If anyone wants to take a look at the Roscoe Beck 5 I have for sale- let me know and I'll bring it down. It'll be a good night ;D Russ

I'm very much open to trades and part exchanges. Warwick SS1 5 string Stingray 5 - single pickup Lakland 55-01/02 Lakland Bob Glaub Lakland Joe Osborn 5 Fender Precision - CIJ, MIA, even a MIM if it's one of the 50's reissues I'm really being quite open minded about this next move- 4 or 5 string basses. I'm also after an intel mac mini at some point.

Well I bought this for a really good price from a nice bloke on ebay about a month ago- I'd been after one for a good couple of years and this turned up only a couple of weeks after buying a Lakland DJ5- I thought sod it, I'll bid and ended up winning fully expecting to be shifting on either bass after a few practices and gigs. Well I've pretty much decided, the DJ5 is the bass for me - and despite all the extra tones available on the RBV I still go for the single coil setting. It has a great low B, loads of tones available- I do like the series bridge pickup setting very much. Chunkier neck than the lakland, although still really comfy even for a guy with small hands. It's light as well. In order to get the action as low as I like it, quite a big setup and fret dress was required so it plays really well. It's in great condition, almost perfect despite a couple of minute and extremely shallow depressions in the neck right up near the joint, too small to photograph. It comes with a Fender Deluxe tweed case as in the pics which is mint. Also has all the case candy and tags. I'm waiting on a reply from someone who has first dibs but in case he doesn't want it- I thought I'd post it here- Now I'll be perfectly honest, I bought this at what I consider to be a very good price- plus I've spent some money getting it to set up nice and low, so considering that and the current demand, scarcity and new price of these instruments- I'm after £825 cash or trade. I'd be interested in a few of the following but am open to suggestions. I'm particularly looking for a nice precision, I might be willing to accept 2 basses in trade, 2 precisions or a p and a fretless j would be good. Fender Precision of some description, MIJ or MIA. Lakland Bob Glaub G&L l2500 Lakland 55-02 (lakland electronics only) possibly a lakland JO5

That's nice- I like the colour combination. I'm assuming the body is a replacement of some description?
i cant stand the fact that you have posted your email address rather than asked to be pm'd it;s as if you actually are treating this like a free classified ad, and lack of pictures and indeed any details about you or the bass, a poor classified ad at that prove me wrong, introduce yourself, and actually be a member of the forum
Jesus man, these posts irk me far more than people diving in to the classifieds- the for sale section attracts new members probably more than any other, posts like yours are more likely to drive people away. ----- Sorry for this post Roger, I'm looking forward to pics of your bass, I may have something to offer in a trade in the next week or so Russ

I'm looking into octavers at the mo, I borrowed a digitech BSW and really wasn't impressed- I'm after a clean octave down and couldn't get rid of the slight fuzzy/synthy edge - I like the octave effect on my korg px4d pandora, that in a separate pedal would be great

My skyline DJ5 is an absolutely stunning instrument in every way- impeccable build quality. I'm so impressed, It's in the throws of winning the RBV vs DJ5 war- I may end up replacing the RBV with another lakland of some description.

It sounds like a great idea in theory- whether it delivers is going to be another matter, but I like the idea of being able to pick and mix.

IMO Littlemark = Great GK 700/1001RBII = Great Warwick profet 5.1 = Pants The GK amps are great, I don't tend to use tonnes of treble- they warm up nicely and are clearer than the LM. The LM is stupidly light, a real plus. The Warwick profet heads I've played through seem to run out of headroom really quick, and to my ears generally don't sound all that great. The 700RBII or LM are both great choices although you may prefer one over the other.

I must give another thumbs up to Lakland, although the Roscoe beck 5 is by far the best fender 5 I've played- It's currently squaring off against my lakland DJ5 and there may be casualties- I'll probably only keep one or t'other. A lakland 5 string precision of some description would fly off the shelves, why on earth does it still not exist?

aha, you're back in at The George then- assuming they got their music license back ;D
So, RBV owners of basschat - what's the B like?
Sounds very good so far in my bedroom ;D got a pre gig practice at 10am tomorrow morning- will report back afterwards. All the strings sound really even and in series humbucking the B really shakes the room. So far, it's certainly on par with my DJ5 for low B-ness, maybe slightly better. I'm still in love with the DJ5 neck, it's great and I've got mine setup perfectly- nice and low, my RBV isn't quite there yet as regards to setup but should be in the next couple of days.
