+ 1 for battery www.myspace.com/thedopplershift - 95% of that is battery 2 with some additional acoustic percussion- mostly electronic I know but check out the song Coffin Boy and Note To Self

How does he have it set up? having the action higher than he's used to could make it seem more thumpy than growly

That does look great, except I found the sansamp to completely destroy my tone- the programmable one was arse, hugely noticeable gap in processing when switching presets- that mid scoop was unbearable

MarloweDK's Youtube videos - great playing, great bass collection too!

I've been watching him for a while now- I bought a pandora px4b after hearing the tones he gets with his, great little practice tool Lovely solid tasteful playing, and great tone -

Cheers guys- I'll take a look at those properly tonight
Hi Russ, Great idea... if you get this mod installed, it'll make your bass so versatile it'll be unbelievable! Have you thought about taking it into Bernie and asking him? By the way, are you thinking of going to the Bash next month... Nik
Hi Nik, I don't deal with Bernie any more - might take it to Graham Wheeler though ;D Not sure about the bash just yet- trying to save as much money as poss for a Markbass 151HR- whoop! r

Hi I'm looking to join or start a band in the Sussex area- I'm 22, lots of live and studio experience, good gear, transport. I'm ideally looking to get back into a function band, age isn't an issue but I'd like to play with some good motivated musicians. Funk, Disco, Soul, bit of Jazz- that sort of thing - I'd also be up for an originals band in a similar vein, actually I'm pretty open minded on this one, as long as I'm gigging good music I'll be happy ;D russfcox '@at' gmail '.dot' com

Hi- I love my SR5 HH but would really like to get some of the other possible pickup permutations out of it - I'd like to install switching like that on a roscoe beck 5 - 3 position switch to select pickups and 2x mini toggle (series, parallel, single coil) for each pu. It' be great to be able to get; bridge humbucker with 1 neck single coil bridge humbucker in parallel (SR5 HH bridge pickup is series by default, odd I know) single coil neck or bridge solo Has anyone else done something like this? I expect there to be some volume issues between settings but I can live with that- I won't be fiddling with settings all that much when gigging but it'd be nice to squeeze out some extra options for the price of a few switches and some wire

Cheers ;D anyone else? I'd really appreciate any more feedback r

Hi all- I've just uploaded a load of my original band's new songs to myspace Please have a listen if you get 5 mins! Grab some headphones or play through some half decent speakers though ;D www.myspace.com/thedopplershift www.thedopplershift.com All the songs were recorded with my SR5 HH or one of two different fender jazz basses DI'd and then run into guitar rig - we did dabble with ampeg svx aswell. The track 'Actions Cause Reactions' was done using my cij jazz with a pick and a dod 250- I quite like the tone, a bit of a departure from the sort of thing I normally go for. The electronic drums were done using NI battery 2 and 3 but there's a fair bit of acoustic percussion mixed in- claps, wood blocks, big dried bean thingy, maracas, wooden woodpecker door knocker etc.

I'm sorry guys- I've had so much interest in this bass, but I can't see it go just yet- I'm not in the position to buy what I really want and this jazz is absolutely excellent. I'm probably going to keep this and try to get hold of a cheaper precision around the £200 mark I've had loads of pms and will do my best to get back to everyone - my apologies now if I miss anyone out Sorry to keep people hanging Russ

Unfortunately after spending quite a bit of time with this cab, I've decided It's not for me- I love the sound of the markbass 15's but I'm really missing having 10's in the equation to clear things up a little in the mids. It's an excellent cab- I'm going to try to get hold of a 151HR to go with my 2x10 I'll be taking it back tomorrow. R

Sorry everyone, dodgy internet connection- It appears to be ok now. I'm pretty sure I've replied to all my pm's- apologies if I missed one, please let me know if you haven't received a reply. I'm having trouble finding a suitable replacement bass for this- anyone got a nice precision they want to get rid of for about £400ish? r
See, I told you you'd be better off with 15"s! That 2x15" is about 2" bigger in each direction than the 15"+6" I'm building - nice and manageable to move but tall enough that your ears rather than your knees end up listening to it. The weight difference between an expensive old cast frame 15" with big magnet and an equivalent quality neo one is massive - I wonder if we'll see more people using 15"s now that 2x15" cabs can weigh less than a 4x10"? Alex
Right you were sir- I'm still in the honeymoon period with this cab, I'm pretty sure it's going to fulfill my needs but I bought it knowing a had a week to road test it and could return it if I wanted. I would have liked to see this cab with a midrange driver but in practice it works perfectly without.
I've heard mixed reviews of the MB cabs - maybe the 15's are better. Have you tried EBS?
I have, albeit too briefly to comment- I've been really impressed with the MB cabs thus far, I've owned a few different ones and rate them highly. I so far prefer the sound of the GK1001 with them though- far more versatility and plenty of warm growl if needed- the littlemark is an excellent amp but it's nice to get away from the constantly compressed tone. I had a decent length rehearsal last night so got chance to give my 215 a good going over. Having used 10's for so long I realised quickly that I'm not used to EQing 15's- after a small amount of tweaking over a couple of songs I was happy with my tone and actually turned everything down. It's quite a different sound, there's plenty of top end there but not quite as much as my 210, which I'd expect! The low end is really present and tight but it's still clear. It's going to take a bit of getting used to, both in size and sound, but I like it so far ;D The Epifani UL310 was really the only cab in my shortlist that I couldn't get to try out
Did u look at the Epifani range? I got a UL310/750watts/5.3ohms AND ONLY 21KGS even the 1000w 4x10 weighs only 25kgs. That rig looks great tho I have to say.
I did consider it- but for a few reasons decided to go with this option. 1- it would have meant a trip to london to the gallery, which is a bit of a pain in the arse and I just don't have the time Gak is much more convenient. I wanted to try a cab out at length first and anything of interest seemed miles away. 2- money- a used 310 would have been cheaper, but not by an exorbitant quantity considering the deal I got on my 152HR brand new- the 4x10 is mega expensive. 3- I played loads of 10" loaded cabs- having used 10's for years I was pretty convinced I'd end up going for them again- the only trouble was, I couldn't find a single 10" cab that could handle anywhere near the amount of low end I was after at volume- I'd be willing to bet that my 2x15 goes way lower than a ul310 even though I haven't tried one. 4- I wanted a taller rig - this was the perfect mid point between a small portable cab (like my 2x10) and a big 8x10 or a dual cab setup. I can't wait to try a precision through this
