I also run a CaliCB into the DP3X and then into whatever amp - we all know Orange has some decent girth on it - I have found myself pulling back the chunk and drive a little of late to even clean up, Ben maybe playing nearer the neck could just give you that sweet spot, or if you are using roundwounds strings , something like TI flats give enough bite to sound nasty but can also be more organic
It’s a difficult one, I am lucky that I managed to find a sweet spot for my ears, but it took a whole week of almost non stop tinkering to get what I needed and to know it inside out.
There will be a sweet spot, and maybe there is one stacking it with the VT. I have had success in stacking mine too
If you simply roll off the tone knob on the bass with your existing setting on the DP3X, how do you find the sound?
Personally I find it can hit that warmer sound instead of the more harsh sound
Well, that’s Sadowsky’s share price dropped, maybe they can right royally fcuk up another companies good bass like the Status Buzzard and spread their weird management practice to another brand
I get where you are going with proportions, but in all honesty 900 shekels is a lot of lolly, if it’s a one off, fair enough, but if it’s a recurring theme in this line, that not cricket.
What are the saddles actually like?
On Sandbergs you can take em out and turn em back to front to give a little more life in intonation, alter the break angle
Yes with Mighty Mite/All parts/Warmoth - all quality.
Make sure you get the exact radius/dimensions etc you want, check the neck pocket and heel size to make sure they are compatible- you may have to build the pocket/shave.
There are some good second hand bargains out there.
Go for it!
Send me - I can barely keep in time even if I know the songs and will definitely fail to learn the set, but will bring a monster amp and turn it up to 11 so it will sound fine
Firstly sorry to hear that, it’s massively wanky.
Read through all the posts and thought initially “forget you! Your gig can do one!” Through to doing the gig as Borat and sabotaging the whole thing.
I think maybe the Dep suggestion is the best one - give them your last minute Dep rate, treat it like a business, pop in an awesome performance and network if there are possibilities.
Also travel in your own vehicle and let the other guys tyres down whilst they are not looking.
I don’t disagree generally with the SD pick up comments, but they do have some good in amongst the standard stuff that people don’t commonly use such as the APB-1 pick up.
Creamery are top drawer, Jaime there is a great guy to deal with and they do a ‘58, ‘65, ‘74, ‘14 but you can base a pick up on those stock ones and he will alter the windings to suit, yes there is a wait, but they are well worth it
