  3. A little tongue in cheek, but we are pretty much talking about the same thing. Compression we can all agree is not for masking mastery of an instrument or mastery of playing with others, but even masters can have a helping hand. Recorded orchestral music will have an element of compression applied to the sound as well as levels before it is released. If we are talking orchestral music live, yes of course every instrument is not Mic’d up and compressed, but what you have is a piece of musical art where the parts are written for a number of instruments - if you want a heavy string section be it viola, violin, cello etc you have relatively more parts of the instrument you want to bring higher, same across percussion, woodwind, brass. There are of course acoustics of the room and how you play them alongside your music, having performed in the free trade hall in Manchester and then compare it to the new concert hall, with its specialised foundations to allow gentle dampening as teams go back to not affect the sound, all these play a part. The list is endless, and at its best compression is not noticeable, it’s just done enough to balance the force. Am I qualified? Nah, peeps like Si your person, am I an interested audiophile who wants the best balanced sound possible either playing or listening, damn straight
  4. Compression is an absolute necessity - search all of @51m0n posts on it - you will get all you need and more. Simply put its used in spades on records to produce a balanced sound for a band/artist across all genres, instruments and voices why would you not want to own your own sound and produce a balanced sound?
  5. Good man Good company Good result

  10. That’s not too bad actually - it’s only if you want a masterpiece as well then you are really splashing - but it could be a lifetime bass.... Hopefully all configurations available soon

  14. She has a great voice - nice work
  15. They tend to use Glockenlang pre amps so if you see one on their site, then you can ask for it, and they have also used Noll Electronics - both German companies. They also use the Darkglass tone capsule which is 3 band You May get the whole lot into existing holes, although it’s probably an upcharge
  16. It’s an easy fix if that’s what you want by adding a stacked knob from someone like Noll electronics the 3 band are normally custom so they may be scarce.....
  17. Damning verdict or just not for you
  18. KMA Audio The Tyler
  19. Doubt he will Every man’s landscape is different!
  20. So the sig basses all have ever so slightly different pick up places from the normal models even though they apparently look the same. The Grand Dark has a longer scale length and the a dark Glass tone capsule, with Sandberg black label pick ups. Ida will be more like the type of music she plays but still versatile, the Grand dark is punchy, goes deep and has the 3 band EQ Bass, low mid, high mid. They both feel great and although I am sitting on the fence a little as it will depend on what you like, what else you play through pedals/amp etc. You will get a quality bass either way
  21. Played both Fantastic basses with their own flavours but pure quality
  22. No worries - often when is middle aged blokes batter out Achilles’ tendons trying to do young people exercises as well as an eccentric loading force ya being dehydrated has a massive influence
