https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rub-Buff-Original-Antiquing-Decorating/dp/B00N1YHWY4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=rub+n+buff+black&qid=1567104958&s=gateway&sprefix=rub+n+buff&sr=8-1 I have used Rub n Buff wax (gold/copper metallic) to either pop grain, or give a slight sheen to proceedings. It was pushed in and then taken off mostly with teak oil. You May be able to use it and then Buff it it to stay black. I had no problems dealing it with gun oil in the usual way after I got the look I wanted, the gun oil deepened the colour some

Ah ok - I was just about to link normal or soft switches to you, they range from £3-15 if you want to change it. Removing the nut on the top of the case should allow it to pop out and replace a new nut should it not? Is there enough slack to do without de-soldering? If the switch is still working, I would do that, even if it’s a De then Re-solder job

Click switches do have an inherent life span and number of clicks, but should last longer, which is why soma companies like Lehle have different mechanisms less prone to fatigue. You could go for another one and a clip on at the same time for a just in case, or replace the components if the rest of the pedal is fine and it’s more cost effective to get it done, and still get a clip on tuner just in case!

@Woodinblack apologies from me @Al Krow narcissism in its purest form - fare thee well

Hang on - let’s get this straight and ignore this if you want, but just because you comment on a thread, does not give you the monopoly on a thread, anyone can comment as they wish. Someone of great knowledge, far greater knowledge than me took the time to write a detailed reply with helpful suggestions only to be met with glib crass answers, and barely a recognition of gratefulness (a thanks emoji doesn’t really cut it) is in my books rude, and why? Probably a deflecting mechanism from a lack of understanding. And yes we used to chat and exchange information etc. Discuss bass related things with another couple dudes, like compression, but evidently it ground to a halt due to differences. Of course during this time privileged personal information may have been exchanged, and honestly Bas you are a decent chap at heart, but I don’t share the same ethos as you in a lot of areas or processes in reaching a goal, bass related or otherwise. Publicising personal information about a ‘fellow BCer’ is not your privilege. I am not ashamed of my job, but it’s up to me who I share this with and any other information about me and my family. I don’t expect or want an apology, in all honesty it would probably be for show and not meant, but really you should think about it.

Not in Never Neverland

Cripes an honourable mention, a new hyphenated insult or a new insult ‘doick-head’ made up and an edit on a mention after due consideration, I feel honoured to have been so lavishly ignored ✌🏾

I hope that game across as genuine reading back - it was meant that way!

Gruv gear recoil and vegan leather if that means anything to anyone

I have to say I have a homemade P with a Creamery 58 P pick up in (they are phenomenal) TI flats went straight to desk, no amp- one of May fave sounds, but it was a small acoustic type thing - killed any jazz I had with boxes infront etc
-
Cut enough wood out that steiny/Hohner laterally and it will be floating
-
Not a bad shout, don’t get me wrong I love a bit of Tech21, strip everything back to native and see, and then build in pedals/boxes as required And Sound aside - which is the best and most joyous to play? What you will end up with is, which sounds best native and with band, which sounds best with pedals and band (don’t change this sound even if playing in isolation and it sounds rubbish, as then you’ll lose your settings, or at least mark them). Then you have the balance of, this is my fave bass to play, and even if the sound is slightly worse than the other, it’s good enough. Or have a bass for different seasons, we are all mellower and happier in summer, a nice P in the mix could be the ticket!
-
Still some room left to enlarge the cavity - and then make it a truly floating bridge..... That could just sound alright that
-
Not need to run for cover, the other two will cut through no doubt, by it totally depends on what other instruments you play with and what your goals are. The P will ‘sit’ in the mix Fine and dandy, and you may need to EQ differently to what you are used to to pop through, whereas MM’s have a nasal honk and Preamp to rip through, and jazz has the bridge placement for bite (for want of better terms). The other question is - way out in audience land and not just on stage - how does/will it sound with a P once projected - it may not come into its own till you stand out there. Ate your ears more used to the Jazz/MM and hence a different sounding P is alien? Maybe you haven’t found the strings that suit you and the P bass best. No right or wrong, variations on what works
-
Look no further than this for just a few pence
-
Good man mine always worked flawlessly
-
Just about to add a bridge one to a homemade P and a homemade jazz which I am routing for different pick ups will have a bridge and a neck to help cover dodgy work
-
Or any body fender made or not depending on quality and pice a bitsa together
