Yep all true - a lot of this is thinking aloud, but it’s starting to look like I should get a switch or a second knob -

It may come to that, but I bought in a stacked knob for another bass (another thread posted at the same time!) and this one for I cannot remember why, but trying to work out if I can use it. i suppose I could probably wire it as a kill switch I think so it’s either both on or all off? -

Completely not unreasonable that - and I may go that way - don’t really see myself using bridge on its own was the main reason I think -
Second question of the day......sorry folks. Another build is a passive 2 pick up jazz bass and I would like to have 1 knob to control it all - no tone - just volume. I have this pot from Noll Electronics, it’s 250kb and here is what they say about it. This potentiometer is for volume use. Its on-on double pole push-pull section can control pickup switching or active-passive switching for electronic circuits. Now, what I would like would be neck on its own on, and switch to both on together with a push/pull. If not achievable I would consider neck on its own and bridge on its own. More than that I guess I would be looking at a pick up selector switch. the bass has no holes drilled for pots yet, I am just looking at being as minimal as possible. All help gratefully received!

Ok First of the simpleton questions today! Looking to complete my Jag Build and it will NOT be wired the normal Jag way. It’s passive, Vol/Vol stacked knob and then Stellartone Tonestyler Duo 6. Pick ups are Haüssel jazz pick ups. I got the following stacked knob from Noll electronics in Germany, but no wiring instructions (I have asked, but it’s the weekend....). 250kb Vol/Vol slightly different to the normal lug pots I have used where I bend back for grounding etc. If anyone can help give me the correct wiring, I would appreciate it greatly and could maybe get the build done this weekend! Thanks

When your £250 preamp pedal sees off your high end rack pre!!

Get the DP3X - admittedly you have a 1 opinion vs another so you can take either opinion you want, there is also a massive thread on Talkbass about it or do the research and see if you think it will work for you. We all play differently and even if me and @dannybuoy had exactly the same settings on the pedal and the same bass and amp, we would get 2 different sounds due to the different ways we play. s’up to you -

And there you go - most things don’t need a 5er and drop tuning will do -

Most nickleback songs, a bucket load of R&B, try Don’t let go by En Vogue , but especially modern stuff and more and more country music these days -

You can get the dUg to sound vintage if that’s what you want, even with roundwounds, roll your time off and adjust dials to taste and you get get there. If you have flats, you will get there as well, it is that versatile Its like most the demo’s or sig stuff out there, you get the artists sound, and people often demo it in its extremes but look through all that and really try to see what is under the hood and imagine. This is not a dial in your sound in 20seconds pedal. Small adjustments can make big differences, and you have to spend time with it. It took me a whole week to find the sweet spot of being able to flick between clean and dirty and not have to dial change. If you haven’t checked them already Dan Veall at guitar interactive magazine broke his rule on the first video by making it too long, because if it’s versatility, and then made a second video on it. Must day something about the pedal -
I must also add, with the knob having defined clicks and positions it’s therefore very easy not to get lost in tone wars and where were you etc

I feel for you, it must be awful you hearing us brag about where we are - not to worry.....

Oh defo - the Ten is cool, they even have an eleven, but as we know we rarely use every available sound available on equipment. For a Jazz type/2 pick up bass - the 6 will be just right for most people’s tastes. Not just that though, it differentiates the capacitance between the neck and bridge pick ups within the circuit to make it more pleasing - genius kit

@ChristineJust had an awesome morning reading this entire build thread nestled in the Brecon Beacons and a cuppa, kids all still asleep! Bravo - great stuff and excellent learning points all around - lots of mental notes taken to try and improve my rather Neanderthal skills. At some point I will have to progress from tarting up someone else’s work and graft a body myself.
