Pretty sure having seen the Plek machine in action they tend not to be missed, but, could always be wrong on that, I suppose it’s one of those personal adjustments just like action height etc.

Yep I keep it really simple. Bass, whatever pedals you want into a USB audio interface and you are away. if you have something like a focusrite you will need a camera connection kit into the iPad but then it works for Mac/iPad etc. On the Mac garage band will do, the focusrite comes with free ‘light’ software versions, or get logic X which is great! Failing that a simple iRig will work for iPad/iPhone and play and record into garage band. That is my preferred silent practice as in settings you can ensure it runs in the background and play along to tunes in Spotify or whatever. The padding of the signal and keeping ‘your tone’ is way better IMHO than into a combo amp with aux in as I struggle to balance the sounds without battering my ears

Yeah, this is annoying, I messaged a couple times when it was on reverb for some more info, but radio silence - poor show -
That grain really is great

Good lighting as well for sanding, nothing worse than missing a bit!
-
That should be plenty, once I get past about 320 I personally tend to stop using power orbital sander and go by hand, you can really work on dents and scratch marks then, you have to do some by hand anyway around the curves
-
Can’t remember if you have/have had a Sandy before? If not welcome to the club, either way - great score - phenomenal basses
-
So far as sanding goes 80 through to 400 minimum. If I am feeling the love I go through to 800-1000

Whether the DI is pre or post EQ has Its pluses and minuses depending on what you want, and a separate volume control is nice, but for me the real oversight is not having a volume switch on the DI, but just having the DI as a line level so the volume change on the amp has absolutely no change to the line signal. If I am right the DG amp version 2 has this, as does the new Form Factor coming out - that one really is the simplest fix internally

TM with black labels is a phenomenal bass

Epiphone Thunderbird - disuade me, please. TONESTYLER and SANDBERG CONTENT

And if anyone else does this - those 3 point bridges are a nightmare! the insets for the screws are just push ins like ikea furniture. Unscrewed, bridge off, screw back in and use a claw hammer to pop them out. The top bit was then chipped off and re-glued, and screw insets re-inserted - but the connection is weak - as you tension the strings the bridge pops up. Always glue them back in (I used gorilla glue) and make sure the front screw is higher than the back 2 so the bridge is nose up to prevent it popping. Probably teaching you to suck eggs, but just my frustrating experience. Also if filing a nut, a leatherman will only do the E and A string, get a decent file for the D and G or it takes ages!- 162 replies

@Muzz cheers for that - it crossed my mind for a surround, or even a sharpie to colour it in! I’ll see how she plays with the guys as to how much I will bother - but most of all - it looks badass- 162 replies

Thanks for that - when you look closely it’s a little scruffy (i’ll Try to get pictures of shame later!) the repair only needed was the central piece which is stuck on only needed to be removed and the him strips either side of the pick up cracked hence you see the bare bits which I sanded to try to make an even space, it meant I then clamped the centre part in 3 bits. Chiseling the neck away maybe there is a mm extra removed, so it’s not a ‘neat’ job, but next time I need to do it I know what to do. Its really good fun. I’ll take it out with the guys in the next few days to see how it sounds, but definitely you have to use the switch to favour the neck pick up, bridge is a little weedy. I may change the electronics, but......it’s a cheapo and I can give it a bit more welly with me Tech21 DP3X pedal. i find it actually hangs pretty well on the strap, low slung obviously and balances nicely. Hipshot tuners - they were 14mm and the holes were 17mm - I just wound strips of duck tape to make the right size - job done!- 162 replies

The body was about £60 on eBay - neck I had hanging around but not expensive (you need a square heel). Needed to drop a couple mm’s off each side and the scale length was just right. Job done - if a bird neck became available I can swap in having not altered the pocket. You could easily do the same!- 162 replies

@mcnach back to T-Bird - I popped a telebird together. Epi Nikki Sixx body needed repair, and had no neck, so I repaired it and added a tele neck which needed a shave and voila. its not bad!- 162 replies

Super cabs barefaced etc...210 or 12 with a GK MB 500?

There are a couple of great BF Supertwin deals on BC right now-last time I looked Being so light it’s not overkill even for smaller gigs - they will reproduce what you put in and the volume you desire -
Yep they do have samples of each string, let us know where you land?!

I am a DR Hi Beams man, prior to that DR DDT, also very good, but Hi Beams have a little extra going on in the mids to my ears I really like. For a while I was GHS Boomers - best strings if you only want them for about a week and 2 hours of play
