  1. https://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/scatterwound-bass-pickups.html#.XMKisxbTWEc Reckon this chap will get you close - I have a set of his ‘58s and they are stellar
  2. Email sandberg doesnt matter how old the bass is They will look after you
  3. Yep Established 1986 Hölger was a piano maker first but has been repairing and putting together guitars for many years before that. I reckon things he has built/touched would have ‘patina’ yep the new shape is from 2015, but plenty of other shapes been around for years
  4. It appears fave words are self descriptive. Mine is Bell End
  5. Erm.....the company has been around over 30 years i reckon a bass that old could look that beat up
  6. It’s the Don.....🤦🏾‍♂️
  7. I do know - that’s what I am worried about!!!
  8. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273808844000 belated Easter pressie for someone
  9. I keep looking at one on eBay at the moment just like yours, and then I have to walk away
  10. Great Herd. Ken Taylor is a vastly underrated bass
  11. I have just taken delivery of some large pole Haüssel pick ups to mess about with in a build. I am certain to love finding out what they do when I eventually get round to fitting them!
  12. The recent Inca silver was a massive winner for me
  13. I think that is rather splendid
  14. Regarding the neck shapes - it’s not totally true about a bit of girth - the neck on my custom TT (not originally by me) is noticeably not chunky than a standard TT or any other configuration and is veering towards the old school P bass. As far as pick ups go, all of them are great - no issues there for me from a Delano’s through sandberg, Haüssel, SD etc. As I have said in the appreciation thread - it depends what you want. First and foremost it’s a bass comfortable to play/sit with/wear. Actually having a fairly ‘neutral’ sound can be of great benefit if it fits in with your tone shaping capacity/wants/needs. Very Interesting about what @Opticaleye says about old vs new - would be really good to sit down side by side with similar models and have a tinkle
  15. Generally an honest opinion either ways from me!
  16. Seymour Duncan website is a decent place to start. They have helpful diagrams as to how the pick up has been wound to accentuate which frequency and they have sound samples
  17. Or speak to a distributor not an online shop who buy ready built basses or basses they spec themselves based on what most people buy and find out
  18. Also may be worth the mods moving this to the repair or build section - and of course we need pics!
  19. Take the finish off and go back to the original wood. Progressively sand from 100 Grit through to 400 grit as a minimum to make it even. Now it depends whether you want grain showing in you finish, if not you can use a grain filler, sand. Primer bass coat, sand it. Colour if choice (you can get spray cans of guitar finishes so you don’t need a gun) Sand between finishes till you get a good colour Sealant of choice. Thats if you want a solid type colour - if you want any grain showing, it will be a different process
  20. Always happy to talk pick ups with you fella!
