  1. @Grangur what you are forgetting is that probably one tree was grown a metre or so away from the other, and was glued by a different worker using different batches of titebond, and clamped for 33 seconds longer than the other, and of course player fatigue in playing with subjective questionable hearing in the audience. Of course how an organic material resonates has very little effect....//
  2. Imagine Hoddle and Waddle doing Diamond lights with a touch of milli Vanilli - make it much much worse, and you are still nowhere near how bad
  3. Massive explanation on the difference that there is in tone woods even within the same species, and then saying tone woods make little difference...........🧐🤷🏾‍♂️ Aside from other variables. Glued/laminated or not, those combinations of woods have a difference because the wood makes a difference. For the record having glued bodies or laminated necks is often preferable and glued parts are often stronger than a single piece. If a single piece wants to warp, very little to stop it - just scratching the surface
  4. Or you ca be like me - mime the line and pretend it’s you playing - ignorance is bliss

Just go to the normal amazon its then says amazon global when you type the strings you want as an option
  6. Becky Baldwin who you will find on insta and her own website is one of their artists, she is based in the U.K. You never know, she may have some intel

DR DDTs or Hi beams I am getting at least 9months out, plus on amazon global they are nearer £20, even if I was getting less, at that price and the sound I get which I like , I would still use them

Yup may not be for you -but for a massive amount of people they are ‘but despite the hype’ is the wrong phrase - normally that is for something that is flash in the pan, or something that glitters but is not gold, or a turd rolled in glitter - I think they have a bit more pedigree than that

Yeah - part of it with a 5er was a proof of concept, bargain quality bass (Sandberg of course), PJ config (VT) as well as a try out. Having a Hamer 12 string helped as getting used to the neck size was less of an issue. It went to a happy home to someone who always uses a 5er and is a Mate down the road from me, so everyone is happy. Sometimes I drop C tune the bass as well, so much fun
  10. Yep they do a tonestyler for 2 pick up basses, or you could use a single one on each pick up feasibly

To my mind the thing that takes longer to adjust to is playing a 12 string (4 courses - 2 octaves) because of fretting and plucking/striking adjustments

I done a 5 Didnt find it too much bother within a week or so of playing it, used the B string when I had to, could swap back and forth fine between it and a 4 Just don’t need the B string, much prefer Drop d, or actually Drop d half step down - that’s where I love living

I need to advance my fingers or pick further down to hit the only strings I need......

Such good value. I picked up a load of unopened 5 string sets for about that price, but I don’t use the B string as I am not advanced enough to use a 5 string bass. If anyone can only find 4 string sets, but needs them for a 5er (I think I have about 4-5 of them) give me a nudge and we can sort it
  15. @mcnach if you do go down the custom route (this may not be the case BTW) be careful about a slightly bigger neck or more mass in the neck and the balance issue. I had 2 G&L ASATs. One solid body with w big chunky old P bass style neck, one semi hollow with a super skinny neck. There are probably lots of variables, but the bigger necked one went to horizontal (not dive) a bit more readily that the skinny necked one. Having more body mass surely it should not be that way?! I think it was the neck just pulling it slightly down. Cant prove anything, but may be the case. Is there a PMT/GAK/Guitar Guitar near you ? Pretty sure they stock Sandy’s
  16. I think the tonestyler can be described as instant tone karma And aye, @krispn popped together something special
  17. @mcnach shame you are not near me or you could have had a play with a couple of Sandberg necks - I have the MarloweDK which is 37mm at the nut, a custom TT which is about 40mm and slightly thicker which you may have liked, and the ‘standard’ is in the middle. All very playable
  18. Yep my bass is entirely passive and has the Tonestyler. I would have it wide open, about 4-5 clicks in or full rolled off as people described. Because it clicks it’s very easy to find your ‘place’. No the 48 is not that bad at the Dusty end - of course it’s no double cutaway Danelectro long horn, but it does just fine in that regard. @mcnach you will love the TI flats, there is a great brightness to them still and the depth of a roundwound, phenomenal string
  19. @mcnachAnd just to +1 the tonestyler some more, I was getting the same thing you were getting around those settings. I also had a very nice set of TI Flats, have used it with rounds, but for this bass and pick up I have, TI’s do the job perfectly
  20. Build quality second to none and customer service and care is amazing. The 48 body is slightly smaller, but its badass and the balance is spot on, Just try one, you never know....
