I think that @Woodinblack‘s point is that the price of the bass to some people can be irrelevant or very relevant. £300 could be someone selling a body part as you say, but similarly £3k could be chump change to someone. As to buying and not liking and moving a guitar on, it keeps the second hand market flowing! What is more head scratching is if a bass is up £3k and someone offers £2999 and it’s rejected. Why offer that to start with and why reject it?!

Old Smokey has been completed. Wired up, action about 2mm at the 12th fret I just need to get a bit of plastic for the back cavity and shape it. Job done - great fun. Would make a decent burner or starter bass by all means - not sure I am boutique just yet!

So the best thing I think about the new Yammy’s is that the pick up sizes are standard now (think I am correct) it opens up the possibility of changing it the whole PJ set of there is a specific balance you like. Dont discount the EMG Geezer Butler set - very nice they are too. As Cam said Aguilar, they have a nice pre-amp as well. World is your oyster with a well crafted bass

Loads of excellent hum cancellers or essentially stacked humbuckers out there Seymour Duncan, Lindy Fralin, Ulyate, Joe Barden, Haüssel, sandberg black label to name a few

Agree Strings underrated wood type underrated and overlooked EQ will depend on the pots taper and whether it is linear, vintage, logarithmic all have their advantages and disadvantages and hence will form people’s preferences. Its not just make of pick ups as each manufacturer will have a range of how they use the available materials, but certain manufacturers will have a ‘sound’ These are broad strokes of course Yammy are good basses - they will always sound good so long as there is not a fault.
