  1. This guy is a legend and he packs his stuff so that even a bomb won’t hurt it. Great chap to deal with
  2. This is all kinds of cool GKWTS
  3. Here is hoping so
  4. @4000 it’s a good start for me - cheers
  5. Sound is very personal - so taking that aside structurally, balance, weight, neck feel (obviously some variance instrument to instrument) what is there between 4001, 4003, 4004 please
  6. https://www.instagram.com/strangernajjar/p/Bt7CYgEnoAe/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1qsssmv514myr this thread and this bass is making me want a Ricky bad!
  7. Yep I gets ya - if it’s post amp EQ DI then it also goes FOH so both sounds are matched unless the desk further tinkers
  8. Depends if you take a post EQ DI out the amp
  9. I just don’t like the look of that many knobs primarily, that and they would be wasted on me as i wouldn’t use them
  10. Agreed with yourself too. The L1500 needed the resistor on the pre amp changed and an extra cap added to the tone pot and then that became useable and a dub machine for very low end bass. If I remember correctly they have slightly odd sized pick ups as well (The MFD’s) making modding even more difficult. With an L2k you can fit a 3 point DPDT switch and require so you can really select front and back coils of each pick up for more versatility. I may have the blueprint for this somewhere, if anyone is interested then message me
  11. Oh massively hot! Lets take quality of build aside as they are very, very well made basses IMHO, Leo got it all wrong with the pick ups. He was compensating for hearing loss, and high end hearing loss. So he rotated the magnet to make them more powerful and also not Treble harsh, especially the L1500 bass in its Preamp. If you are a guy/gal who is bass to amp, no other frills, it’s a good geetar for you, moulding that sound esp with preamps with any heft is very tricky and always seemed like a constant battle. For anyone looking to get one really check the neck profile offerings. They have some wonderful diemnsions to choose from, but their stock PJ #12 choice is almost their worst to me. It tries to be between the 2 styles and satisfies no master. But , still - great basses
  12. Very well made basses - their MFD pick ups make life difficult, but the LB is spared that
  13. I sort of like it - looks like it’s based on an F11 D blaster - but that’s cool in my books. just needs less a strings, less knobs version and it’s a winner
  14. Good work buddy and a fantastic haul. down half a step and drop D with a D tuner is where I live. Welcome to the club!

    Geddy Lee pedal

And it’s a bloody brilliant amp as well! You get close to dUg but also many many tones around it clean and durty
  16. @HughRichardson good video. Fo my 2 pence worth as you go along the videos I would accentuate the presence of space more, you do mention it briefly but it can be incredibly powerful, as can a driving bassline. Also it does depend on the genre is music. Classic bass line driving a song:- classic example of space and letting the kick and snare go together too:- i would also touch on EQ of the bass just out of the kick zone to blend but also differentiate enough. Just a few more from my POV cheers
  17. Yep - researched it, listened loads, know a guy that tried one. Not magic beans
  18. And i can confirm it is one helluva bass - gorgeous to play and built for distortion/grind. DP3x is a perfect partner
  19. That’s cool - I was only pulling your leg back and I have thick skin - so no offence my end, glad you have taken none I hope and certainly glad you are OK. I suppose for me it was to clarify how often someone may use the Mid dial alone, which is the prime thing of a 3 band above a 2 band - more as a mental log for myself and learning about how others use things in case I may move in the direction, so using bass and treble controls wasn’t relevant to me if you get my drift. I should have made myself clearer in that was the specific I was interested in. No harm done from us both. Hope you are on the mend.
  20. Now that is using tech properly. Glad to see/hear about that
  21. @mcnach thanks for your input and answers, I get what you are saying. I am no more suggesting you use a 2 band EQ and amp controls only, or a passive bass only more than you are saying I must use a 3 band EQ and nothing else. I appreciate the detailed answer for your needs as to why it works, can’t really see how I am stopping you. FOH Guy was put in there for those that may be amp-less and therefore cannot tweak amp controls on the fly - it was an attempt at catching most situations. Taking my other quotes out of context without what they were relating to does not work either, but I would be more than happy for you to copy a quote of mine insisting my way is THE way to do things on this subject. If you are unsure what to do with my wisdom I am happy you use it to help find the sound you rarely know in your head.
  22. Stand closer to the amp Better EQ options
  23. Sounds fair to me. What happened in the days before you tube footage - he would have had an audition
  24. crikey and answer without, italics, capitals, bunny ears, brackets or Bingo shouts You feeling ok @Al Krow?
