  1. Not boredom Look of relief as he has finally reached Valhalla
  2. Is that white foamy stuff from the excitement of meeting a pick player? Or is it a more Macbeth Murder scene
  3. I was thinking more Red Dwarf Defo prefer feathers
  4. Well there are such things as Kickers.....
  5. If you insist on being correct can you please refer to it by it’s full title as a guitar plectrum, or guitar plec. I may otherwise think you are referring to one powered by a jack hammer on a Harpsicord, or another stringed instrument of some description. That would be awfully confusing
  6. And here’s me thinking it was a plick, what a plick I have been
  7. Have a look at DAVA picks. https://www.davapick.com/ i have to use a pick pretty much all the time due to a hurty knuckle. The rubber is a nice grips. if I want a strong attack I hit with The uncovered top, if I want a more finger style attack, I turn it in my hand and use the rubber. good variety
  8. Good advice hear, but I am on the side of perceived loudness as a pick will cut through a little more due to a material difference between plastic/wood whatever you are using and finger pulp
  9. @denki109 great insights, great round up, it’s exactly how I find it, so I realise I am not completely mad! If it kills With the Rick, you are in a great place
  10. Personally when I sell I ensure and never presume what the buyer wants. If the buyer explicitly says, no insurance, or they are fine with the basic I clearly state it is on their head, and I make sure it is packaged properly. If they want full insurance, we agree that in the overall price. In this case unfortunately the seller is at fault and I believe a full refund is in order.
  11. Amazing, you have encapsulated it entirely and so glad it works for you thus far. Its really sensitive to how hard you strike as well. Cant wait for the next instalment!

Ok, if we are not using our effects live, yes I did it at home and yes it made a difference. Also done in band practice - yes it made a difference Also done live, yes it made a difference positively. Done the same with filters in all scenarios listed above, not always the same joyous result. Let us know how you get on

@Al Krow so all that is presumed answers to questions, if you want compressor users to switch on and off live, will you do the same with your effects? If you have a compressor did you try it out yourself? You may be right about what live listeners want, maybe they want an almighty synth fuzzy wall of sound with no definition, I dunno, I am getting too old maybe....

How is that quantified? have you played a song to an audience once with the filters/synth etc. You would normally use And then the same song (can be a different audience if you wish) with non of your pedals on? Or even if you have more than one song in a set requires you to use your filter pedals use them for one song and not another? Did the audience/band members get up in disgust and throw rotten tomatoes? So my challenge is essentially don’t use the filters you normally would when you play live and see if anyone notices. Another question then, if compression makes sense in a studio context, why does it not make sense in a live context if you are after a similar musical experience. If you aim to play tight, why not use tools in your arsenal to keep it even tighter and even?

I am pretty sure we all decided the kick in test on the compressor was fairly useless, and ad nauseam said why, and I even showed you an example where it did make a difference. When you kick in you filters and synths mid song with band does it make a massive difference to the band and audience when you play? Why not challenge the other way and not kick in the Synth when you are supposed to in the song and see if anyone notices the song without it was less than it should be??
  16. Thanks all, correct about HB’s - cracking pick ups. Someone else chipped in with some sage advice on a pm. i rechecked connections, made sure pins are not bent, the wires were a bit compressed (suggested by another) so I made them more of a gentle curve. did that and back on track You both may be entirely correct about loosening with vibrations, seems the most plausible, I suppose I didn’t want to cut a cable if I didn’t have to, but it’s no biggie and will be good for me to get soldering! Interestingly my other Hohner, fully passive has the other jack, and would have been no bother, bloody barrels!
  17. In short.... Bought a Hohner B2ADB headless bass. Changed out the pick ups for the EMG HB solderless pick ups and I didn’t get a BTC system. I wired it up vol/vol/tone. The included jack would not fit the bass without routing so I have to use a Barrel Jack. Got a new barrel jack and I managed to get the ends of the solderless leads to fit onto the RST prongs, popped a bit of insulating tape around them to make sure they are not touching so they do not short. Everything is working fine for a couple weeks. Last night with the band after about an hour of playing the volume dropped right off of the output, and even then the D and G strings were passable, but the E and A were barely audible. There was the odd intermittent vol spike, but few and far between. Now, does this likely sound a battery issue, or actually should I stop messing around and just remove the solderless connectors on the wires and solder the wires RST prongs on the jack? Any ideas greatly received. Thanks
  18. Nice work!!! really hope you enjoy it and can’t wait to hear how you get on My only absolute rule with this pedal is first try the presets in the manual and see what you think with all basses you have in both clean and dirty mode. Then dial it all back to noon, put the manual down and tinker till you get what you like, it really gives an idea of how it works, and is a tinker mans pleasure. I hope you get there and once you get the sweet spot, only minor adjustments needed thereafter. good luck!
  19. All over their stuff for some time - great listening
