Ha! well she didn’t walk out in the first song, and put my bass higher in the mix
-
Seems a really good unit that makes a lot of sense and ticks a lot of boxes for useability. @Osiris one to consider....!

Could anyone close to me let me try their Darkglass amp?

I think if you think it may suit you, and you have the funds, find a suitable retailer where you have a cry off period to try and can get a full refund. its the only way -
It’s looking good guys, great gear on show. Have an awesome time

Those MFD pick ups are a whole different beast
-
I would have thought it is not in the Ray ball park, the MFD bucker is not in the right position, it’s closer to a P pick up position The G&L equivalent is an L1500, but that is a different beast as the pre-amp is different with a more shrill Treble focus to it, but it can be easily tamed with a hanger to the R7 resistor on the pre amp and also the capacitors on the Tone pot

Had a DG amp, it is a good amp, no doubts, great quality of manufacturedness as well. Real shame I let mine go, I am just in Bristol! EQ is sensibly positioned and very tweakable (too tweakable for me). The clean sound is also nice, a little too clinical for me, and the bass on tap is enough, but not as huge as a Mesa D800 for example if that’s what you like. Drive sound - very subjective of course but for me I have always found it not exactly parallel to the clean sound making it not quite there for me to work in the mix (been through their pedals as well), though I know plenty people do, and a really good pal of mine uses it with the drive on for non metal music things like country, pop etc. I did move mine on as I am a simple chap and wanted a simpler EQ, and slightly different requirements. Its difficult to hate it, you will like it, but may or may not love it if you get my drift. If you were going to potentially buy new anyway, it’s probably worth taking a punt, trying it it and use the returns period? Its one of those ones which is very personal and subjective. -
dUg pedal hasn’t replaced anything of mine, it’s enhanced it. Pretty sure this is a no brainer for you!
-
Oh and I often tune drop D and half a step down so C# etc The other day on the 4 string I was in B and the rest down 2.5 steps Tuner lapped it up
-
It’s bloody great mate, whatever people say for or against it are only minor gripes if you read between the lines. You have a tweakable unit for clean or dirt weighing 12 Oz the size of a high school child’s pencil case with a compressor, tuner, EQ and an XLR out for under £300. Whats not to like?! It will be a great addition to what you have already built I am sure
-
And it’s tight and easy to use
-
When I say it takes a while I mean initially to get the sound you like. once you are there, small changes on the fly are easy
-
Having said all that, and you thanking me (!) it is one of those pedals I put into the need to really try to find out categories, and also don't make a snap judgement without proper tinker time and use with a band if that is your mission, its the way the beast is. You may dial up a god awful sound in isolation, but actually it works in context
-
@Osiris you know my opinion on this! I think it is not overly compressed to my ears when its backed off, but the compression on this I think is slightly different to other units in that it is clearly linked to the low end as well, so just because the compression knob my be high doesn't mean that it is overly squashed, it means a tinker/balance between your Low and comp dial. In addition you can get over the mid scoop you know it has/I like by choosing 325 or 700Hz and calling it up. I am pushing mids more than the dUg setting to my surprise. It is a very organic sound which does sit really nicely, I think you would definitely get something you would like out of it
-
Same here with enough low end on tap in general, I do find when using a 12ver I have to thicken the sound a little by pumping a bit more bass on the amp, but on ‘normal’ basses, there seems to be enough
-
Great thoughts, I am an abviois lover of this. I like the tuner I compared it to my polytune and clip on poly tune. I found it quick and easy to dial in and they all registered the same notes so they are either all right or all wrong!
-
It’s so bass dependent, I have my high 1-2 o’clock, mids 2-3, low 3-4, drive and chunk about 5. For me it works, and I get a sound I like clean as well. Rolling the tone off in dirty mode helps to keep the drive but tame the high. You are right though, it is bright, and can be a bit teeth chattering fingers in a blackboard on its own, but in a mix it does blend nicely
-
Me too, and when the mix engaged, potentially a little dark. Rolling off the tone with the mix engaged may just help to give you a good drive and a good clean with no further jiggery pokery as it takes that top end away
-
I had another long play with my Hohner this time. What I found was I have my drive sound I love with the distortion, but just rolling the tone all the way off then gave me a sound with less top end fizz, and a very nice clean sound with enough brightness to pop through. Good alternative to trying to find a setting which works ‘clean’ and dirty

@Hellzero couldn’t agree more, regarding old tech, pretty sure a tube amp is way older......don’t let’s re-open the Watts, RMS, speaker excursion debate I think it sounds very nice indeed with a great footprint and functionality, multi instrument, multi simultaneous instruments and the ability to pop vocals through. Please keep us informed if you hear any more about them, or hopefully someone will chip in

The Wal will make you a better player

Not true loads of reclaimed boards out there that are used. But it is interesting what point external wear in an otherwise perfect piece of equipment massively decreases the value. Not for this thread though, this needs to stay on point about a nice sounding amp
-
I agree on that wear and tear will scratch wood instead of tarnishing carpet/vinyl etc over it, but some people have wood floor boards at home that stand the test of time! Hopefully the construction will be sound
-
I think it looks and sounds beautiful, multi inputs are a dream, it’s great on my PJB and if this is genuinely half as , good, it’s a winner

@Al Krow most cabs these days are made with plywood, it’s not just the wood material per se that is the strength factor, it is how the enclosure is designed to confer strength. For example one could presume if something is a hardwood, then it is a ‘hard’ wood, however balsa is hardwood due to the grain despite it being very soft indeed
