  1. In short - i have spoken with @Osiris at length over the years on all bass related issues - and we differ on approaches and sounds but have a commonality on our themes. He knows his onions theoretically and practically, nothing said is a cack handed glib comment without substance, the fact @Baloney Balderdash he wrote a reply detailing this shows this. Now I know I always ‘sound’ good no matter what I do cos my gear is ace, BUT, I play like crap - that’s all my fault.
  2. If you are an Apple user - garageband, that’s free and iRig is decent Darkglass element
  3. Ah yes Barefaced machinist is a cracking pedal - so many great tones. I had a good back and forth chat with Alex about it, ultimately I sent it back, not because of lack of quality (sound and build) but because compared to how and where I play on the bass, existing pedals I had suit me better. For reference I mainly play pick near the bridge and compensate EQ etc accordingly
  4. That’s what I would do, or DP3X - it’s what they are designed for
  5. Wowsers, and it’s a very small pedal!!
  6. Pretty sure the Tech21 PSA 2.0 would get you there or maybe the Verellen Meatsmoke pedal?
  7. Again it’s how you use it surely….. The only one with an iPad in this photo is the only one looking at the audience!
  8. In an ideal world no - but a while back was given about a weeks notice for a gig with 2 new guys after we had jammed together just once before. Had to put together an 8-10 song set, they designated me vocalist/singist, most of which I hadn’t played before. i used an iPad with a holder that clipped to the mic stand and a Bluetooth page turner which I left on the floor. i set up the pages so it was a verse and chorus each page (pretty much) so that it was a decent size. At the end of each verse I tapped and it shifted. Tried me best to learn the words, but it was there as a just in case. I agree with not being glued to the screen, but I had to do devils work and glance every now and then to stay correct. The drummer wrote his words for BV’s on the skins of his drums on the night. Sometimes a necessary evil when you also have a day job!
  9. No one is perfect and wood certainly is not perfect being an organic material which can change. Kiln treatment and storages seasoning are separate things. Sandberg teamed up with a university to properly research and pinpoint their thermo treatment, after wood has been seasoned to look at cellular stability, water content etc same as with Vibration treatment. Having been to the Sandberg factory and seen the process, how they store wood, treat it, realising how much Hölger cares and his knowledge after being a piano builder prior to Sandberg which has now been running nearly 40 years and how staff take care, it won’t be for lack of love, but they will rectify any situation once they are aware and the merchant hasn’t fobbed a customer off
  10. That sounds more like Sandberg service we’ll see the outcome
  11. Umbo is not the only passive only design, Marlowe DK is another…and I think the bass the world TT
  12. It really all depends what you want yes the pick ups give a flavour, but, if you have an amp or a preamp you like the Sandbergs are perfect - delanos are not sterile by any means, but are fairly neutral, they will sit there and allow you to mould your sound. Use what available EQ, amp, cab sims, pedals you want etc and you know you have a wonderful sounding bass to project your playing
  13. As far as I remember the PLEK process doesn’t do anything around the edges - it makes sure the frets are levelled on the board and are all accurate. For the peeps that had problems on email were other avenues tried to contact, ringing, Instagram etc? I’ve never had a problem
  14. Agreed - it’s different but intuitive - literally a 2 min learning curve
  15. Brilliant basses, supremely made, great customer services Just know what you want. Active vs passive If active - which pre-amp, standard 2 band or 3 band or a different one (Darkglass) Passive - which pick ups they off, Delano, sandberg, sandberg black label, Haüssel’s Which neck - for example the MarloweDK is a different neck profile once you got it sorted - bass for life
  16. Wowsers!!!
  17. And @krispn is a legend to deal with - GLWTS
  18. If you want beefy jazz pick ups look at Haüssel pick ups You want active ones Seymour Duncan AJJ also consider speaking to Creamery pick ups in Manchester - the 58 P I have from him is probably one of the best I have ever heard/had. Failing a change - a good preamp and or Amp EQ fiddle should get you there
  19. Nope Great balance and weight
  20. Best preamp ever and superbly versatile for all forms of music GLWTS
  21. few more of the legs for variety hedgehog with onions it is!!
  22. Few legumes and some hummus with tahini dip - it’s a proper party throw in a cheese and pineapple hedgehog and I am there
