When i play back after doing levels i try to do a mix of headphones vs some form of speaker to get a flavour. Remember what the bias is on your headphones when you are setting levels or you could be setting your levels not quite right.
I think ultimately speakers should be the final listen and say so on how it sounds
Go and drink some grape juice - you deserve it
Honestly not racked the dUg amp is easy to move around - I used to sling it in a Fusion DJ mix bag.
The rack case I have is the Gator soft one which has an extended handle and so you wheel it like an overnight bag/suitcase/carry on luggage on an aeroplane.
Super easy.
The DG in any format will never hit the Mark, it’s drive is not set up right, there is something not quite there about how it comes out, I know why but that’s a whole other conversation. Even their X7 which tries to do the dUg cant.
I di pretty much recreate the dUg sound by other means (not heavy) and if you wanna have a throw ideas around then gimme a nudge.
Thanks
I know it has a 6 band EQ, and I know how it works having had the amp and various other DG products and of course the combination is good, but you specifically mentioned the power amp trumping others out there, that is what I am interested in and was hoping you could shed some more light on
Ok - I know you are not familiar with the mentioned Tech21 products
But
Are the features on the M900 amp combined with the DP3X pedal exactly the same as what is available on the dUg amp from what you can see?
Yes
Rack tuner is pittance if you want, clip on/pedal etc, or stack the DP3X into the dUg
We all know the EQ/drive section can be bypassed if you want.
Whats so special about the DG power amp compared to others?
BTW when you say power amps do you mean pure power amps, or actual amps and the power section?
If it’s amps, How many have you run side by side as a slave bypassing the EQ to compare the signal?
It’s more than cute, it’s highly intuitive and gives a vast array of sounds precisely because of the parallel paths.
Price wise i got mine for not much more than the V2 DG head on here second hand.
Jump out of 1 round of drinks in a London pub and you practically have the difference
If you are looking for settings it’s probably worth extending to AO Ultra users as essentially it’s the pedal with a power amp - usual caveats playing styles, basses, strings playing position, pick, fingers etc
Personally i think Olinto look mint and would love to play one - but what you say about feel is spot on - for me a combination. Of bought basses and bitsa’s basses give me what i like
The Musicman Stingray Old Smoothie model intentionally had the strings not aligned over the pole pieces
