Couple years is a long time in pedals and politics
-
Shhh Al, it was a secret! Guy from bass Buddha has been playing with it recently and there may be a video soon. No affiliation, but they are a quality manufacturer, 14 day full refund as long as you don’t batter it, I may be taking a punt!
-
I dunno, Lexi has now got 2 pups in his Kramer D1 as opposed to 1, maybe his sound is evolving
-
Oh crikey, glory Man Utd years are gone, now it’s ego years with poorinho at the helm, but I do like other teams doing well, makes it more interesting.
-
@Sparky Mark nah, I got rhino hide buddy, and you have the same name as one of me fave ever Man Utd footballers. @SuperSeagull I did think you may be that way with your avatar name! Absolutely being that way based you should go to BF with your combo and try out, there is no harm they do have the capacity to demo. They also do loan cabs as well as take backs. If anything it could prove that your MB is right for you taking into account price points etc. You are both simultaneously on Santa’s naughty list and my xmas card list as well
-
@Sparky Mark happy for my advice to be ignored, but equally I could say ignore people that make sweeping statements about other people’s comments with no concrete knowledge of what they have or have not used. So quantify, for what it’s worth, (if anything) I don’t care for MB gear in looks or sound, I call it irrational because I know it’s good gear that plenty of good musicians use, but it’s not something I would entertain for me. I have heard people use it and have liked their sound, but it’s still not for me. If you read my posts, it doesn’t suggest moving away from MB gear, even if he wants a BF cab, but what I say about the Supertwin stacks up, just how what you have said about the gear you mentioned probably stacks up, and as you say, you have no BF experience so the OP can weigh up all advice as they see fit.
-
@chris_b you will get no disagreement from me on what you have said at all. All of this is my opinion too, I have my likes and dislikes and irrational hatred as well on some gear, but what you have said does corroborate also with my opinion I think?! No substitute for trying a bunch of stuff and getting what is right for the OP, but if he doesn’t get Barefaced, I am taking note and never giving him any advice again......
-
Yes it does! Clear, precise, punchy, transparent with great dispersion. It will throw out whatever you send it with aplomb and laugh in your face for not driving it hard enough.
-
@AndyTravis after the discussion with Mrs T when you woke up in the morning, was no more said because she had chosen to ignore your morning ritual....?
-
Get the Barefaced Supertwin, night and day better cab and then a head of your choice. If you like MB, you could get an MB head, or go different and change it up.
-
I did have 3 of them an ASAT, semi hollow ASAT and an L1500, I could tell you a bit if you want, but it’s not the same as picking it up and playing one, I agree. There will be some people on here who may be kind and let you play theirs? Theu foncome up for sale, I suppose again try before you may buy or take a punt? I took a punt on mine, was good fun.

I’m in to hear the journey
-
I will champion Barefaced, but better still ring them up, send them an email and have a discussion what you want and they will help with a cab which will suit you. Better still if you can get down to Brighton, you can take your stuff and play them, via arrangement of course
-
I too have a Marlowe DK bass, set to bridge favouring (It is one of the best basses out there hands down). My cab is a Barefaced Supertwin and it’s bloody genius which someone else alluded too. Talking of a sterile sound, I love my Two Notes LeBass pre-amp pedal and it pairs very very nicely with the DK, the pick ups seem to be the right voice and output to let it shine and allow manipulation to your sound. Good luck with the search

Turning a valve preamp circuit into a standalone preamp?

For a tube DI, pretty sure I saw a Khan for sale on here a couple days ago, there is of course a REDDI as well -
Do the best pro-bass players mainly play 4 strings?
Cuzzie replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
In that case a good old Hohner cricket bat bass either as your main or a back up. If it’s a back up brilliant to pick and swing at the punter and you can keep playing with the other hand whilst dishing out a good thrashing and then use it for family games if camping -

@lurksalot It’s a multi tool with attachments, 1 or more happens to be a phillips of some size made by draper, so it’s still not a phillips ergo the point is still correct -

Get the LH1000 Even more power, not too dissimilar second hand prices, can be gotten for under £200 - I loved that amp -

I reckon What ever pedals or power amp give you your sound, hide it inside a shell of an old amp head completely gutted. You don’t even need to bolt it in the box making it easy to carry all parts separately for any occasions. If you use wireless, sorted, if you don’t, no one will notice if it is going in the front or round the back. Loads of bands used empty speaker cans for it to look like they had a million 8x10s No different -

Oh my dear @Al Krow there are so many definitions to take into account and so many of your threads to meander through it becomes difficult to keep up to speed. So to coin a phrase from you, let’s get back on to the topic you started, so from your own research on your own question.... Which in your view best pro’s Mainly use a 4 string? Which in your view best pro’s mainly use a 5 string? Which great albums and tracks in your view use a 5er? -

For the record on my behalf, I don’t play a 5er, I do go to drop D or normal tuning be it half a step down or not. Only reason I don’t play a 5er - never had to go beneath a Drop tuning regularly enough to warrant it, and it keeps bass real estate to a minimum thus not triggering the wrath of her indoors. If I got into 5’s as well, there would be no hope for me... nowt against any folk using whatever strings they want, and to be fair, I could probably use a 2 string
