  1. Get the LH1000 Even more power, not too dissimilar second hand prices, can be gotten for under £200 - I loved that amp
  2. I reckon What ever pedals or power amp give you your sound, hide it inside a shell of an old amp head completely gutted. You don’t even need to bolt it in the box making it easy to carry all parts separately for any occasions. If you use wireless, sorted, if you don’t, no one will notice if it is going in the front or round the back. Loads of bands used empty speaker cans for it to look like they had a million 8x10s No different
  3. I often wish someone else did my basslines when I play
  4. Oh my dear @Al Krow there are so many definitions to take into account and so many of your threads to meander through it becomes difficult to keep up to speed. So to coin a phrase from you, let’s get back on to the topic you started, so from your own research on your own question.... Which in your view best pro’s Mainly use a 4 string? Which in your view best pro’s mainly use a 5 string? Which great albums and tracks in your view use a 5er?
  5. For the record on my behalf, I don’t play a 5er, I do go to drop D or normal tuning be it half a step down or not. Only reason I don’t play a 5er - never had to go beneath a Drop tuning regularly enough to warrant it, and it keeps bass real estate to a minimum thus not triggering the wrath of her indoors. If I got into 5’s as well, there would be no hope for me... nowt against any folk using whatever strings they want, and to be fair, I could probably use a 2 string
  6. When we say pro-bass do we mean for bass as opposed to against-bass?
  7. So the question for the 5 bangers to extrapolate is how difficult is it to play most of the requisite songs on a down or drop tuned 4 compared to a 5 banger. 24k magic as others have said is an example of how 4 beats 5 on this occasion. @Al Krow I think we have established that most pro players will use the tool for the job. We also know that most pro bands down tune Half or whole steps for the singer for their voice live (getting away from metal for the ‘heavy’ Factor Maroon5 are an example) so doing it in other keys is not a massive issue
  8. Yep saw that too!

    ESP

Yep a fan here, but no hands on, certainly that new GB4 looks the business and I am sure at some point I will break and get one
  10. @Osiris beautiful bases their especially that TT. Whoever picks up your VM will get a stonker as well
  11. @Al Krow analogies all over the place with no relevance to the OP Racket materials are tech advancement for stiffer lighter materials, would be more analogous to two way truss Rod’s, graphite truss Rod’s, chambered vs slab solid bodies, lightweight tuners etc. Closest you’ll get to tennis may be racket head size. I would say you get the picture but......
  12. @chris_b exactly the point as to why the question is a bit meh
  13. @Al Krow that’s a Draper not a Phillips. Phillips head always was and always be very specific shape
  14. I suppose for Frank a Fender is until you decide ESP is better
  15. Mas Hino is a luthier of Massive repute. I have no doubt this will be absolutely stonking GLWTS
  16. Pretty sure the genius legends at sandberg did that! Alrhough I did have to file it a bit to plop those 1954 LaBella original flatwounds ropes on it just now
  17. Don’t ask me the exact dimensions all around, but you’ll see in the white bass that it’s a bit chunkier The MarloweDK red bass has a nut width of 37mm, ‘Jon Snow’ is more like 40mm, 39 at a push. The whole profile is bigger. It actually suits the Haüssel pick ups which are mid beefy and about as close as a jazz neck could sound to a split coil P solo’d. I didn’t order it, just found this good looking custome bass lurking and had to have it. Jon is also a bit heavier than DK
  18. These basses are phenomenal and a very very fair price. I have a B2ADB and a B2 full passive, amazing beasts and my only bases in this weather to stay bang in tune. Have a bump on me for a South West bretheren and GLWTS
  19. I prefer the low end so how about a halfway house and D tune it so like standard E to C but a full step down. pick up wise I just tarted my Hohner B2ADB with EMG HB’s, I did try the BTC system but I didn’t get on with stacked knobs as I am a bit thick, so I kept it vol vol tone. If there jazz pick ups are equally as good you will have a bucket load of fun
  20. Bang on bloody gorgeous Bravo sir!
  21. Fully agreed Frank is the biz - great to hear all these cool stories, so nice to hear when a great player is also a great person
  22. It appears we both did! that bass is the dogs bollox business
  23. @LewisK1975 I believe the correct term is fuzzy winky
  24. Not tried them but LaBella dona Drop tune set, they are quality string makers so I can’t see them being turd
  25. not sure, but in practice it is probably still there having heard Hölger speak about it. Last approximate count there would be something like 30,000 different options available, they may still happen, but the website may either not reflect or be under transition and not keep unto date with chops and changes.
