  1. He cracks me up I wouldn’t tell him to his face He is a massive unit!
  2. Review from one of the guys on TalkBass about the XLR output vs 1/4” and on the pedal I just got mine and It's FU*KING AMAZING !!! One thing that is not explained well is that 1/4 inch output is full range and XLR is cabinet simulation. From what I tested myself it's 4x10. I know they said they used high and low pass filtering but I feel they were aiming for 4x10 configuration.I believe so because i have Digitech CabDryVR which is digital impulse response cab simulator and DP3X sounds closest to 4x10 when used with XLR out. Which means that's what you wanna record with and plug into your audio interface for DI recording or go to the front off the house or mixing board and 1/4 inch is of course for amps (even though no one says this is a rule just common sense). Great touch that Tech 21 should have explained better as it is really a cool feature. Pedal sounds amazing and has TON of low end while having growl-y and cristal-y upper mids and highs. They just got it right. I am sure this one will be most sold bass pedal for a while. This pedal cuts marble I mean every note is like a punch in the face. Kills DarkGlass myth with a sniper headashot of incredible accuracy.
  3. Ramping the sound would be born out of frustration, seen him with his rig, the band had a beautifully balanced sound. Going through the PA is all about recognising what the modern world is like, but using his pedal to keep his tone.
  4. Just seen Katy Hurt and The Healers Band UK in a close intimate coffee shop gig. Fabulous, she has a fantastic voice
  5. Jon Willis, the first of the posted videos by @dannybuoy has been using his dUg through his Peavey power amp, so just straight. I heard some other tones on it, and it’s mint
  6. Jon Willis is a good guy, I been chatting to him about the pedal. nice to show it’s clean functions
  7. Tweeter or no tweeter Gen 1 to Gen 3 These are the best cabs GLWTS
  8. DR DDTs Awesome strings, stay strong long
  9. Let’s not
  10. @Al Krow except they influenced a whole generation of bands that are household names and made it big and these bands and their members reference them. I’ll not get into external reasons, it’ll probably breach forum rules, but if you measure greatness purely by chart success and figures that’s fine, but you sell yourself short. Evidently artists like Rodriguez were rubbish.....
  11. Can’t give you the full low down, don’t have my hands on it yet, but chatting to sources, if you know and like how the dUg Ultrabass amp works then you will defo like this, and actually the clean sound is much more useable than the one in that amp. This thing will be good, may not be for everyone, but without doubt it will keep your low end clean as that’s its design, and then add dirt as required. It’s got a compressor and a tuner in a 12 Oz package for a pretty reasonable price with XLR and 1/4 output. Pop it in front your amp, in the FX loop or straight to PA. From another source I have the perceived DI and jack signal difference is not as great as it has been billed
  12. Thanks for that insight, it must be sooooo tricky. I think as in everything in life, you get some guys who don’t give a funk, and others who try their best in challenging circumstances.
  13. Those Elvis mics are cool, but you have to be close and on axis to be heard, one of the reasons why I moved to the Sennheiser
  14. Used an SM58 Beta, now have Sennheiser e835’s fantastic bits of kit, Sennheiser have really upped their game and I think Shure have rested on their laurels a bit. Sennheiser are becoming more standard I think now
  15. Can’t help on powering, but Phil Jones Bass Cub has a sound and the abilities you need
  16. Cheers for that. What appears to be ubiquitous amongst those lucky ones with it across th pond, the dials are super sensitive, small increments can lead to big changes, so twiddle carefully peeps
  17. @Al Krow it’s not always all about you! Chording, runs etc will be easier on a Bass VI. Within your variables list ARE things which are directly affected by a short scale Vs long scale. You can’t seriously say that the way a string vibrates and the harmonics it creates is exactly the same across the 2 basses? Thats just one example.....
  18. Well if you are after a TicTac type of playing and bass sound it’s the Bass VI all over, aside from the sonic properties of short scale vs long scale, a normal bass won’t give you that at all etc.
  19. Except that restringing a ‘bass’ guitar E to E does not sound the same as a bass VI in any way, but a bass Vi will do a passable bass guitar sound
  20. Yep his Geddy’s are good, butbits nice to see him dial in 3 different tones in 3 different videos and add in Matthew doing the Mike Dirnt thing that’s 4 distinctly different good tones out of this
  21. My one was Halestorm, Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena. Good, Bad, Good - performance and sound!
  22. Tim killing it again, DP3X showing a range of tones
  23. Interesting thoughts on this, couple I especially like is use of the job title engineer. I have the same angst against the term ‘consultant’ for me, it should be reserved for the hospital doc. I get the room thing too, it must be difficult, but I have been to gigs where I have seen multiple acts from the same spot on the same night with varying quality of mixes, and the number of people in the venue did not change appreciably. That surely is poor craft
  24. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/tech-21-dug-pinnick-dp-3x-signature-pedal.1318519/page-20 Some guy has it already and can compare it to the dUg amp. sounding very promising
  25. @NancyJohnson Hey don’t tease me My birthday is not for a few months
