I used to have 2 compressors, went to 1, now I have one per 2 mini boards I can link to form 1 big board and change compression character. (Pm me if interested and i’ll Show you). i has them beginning and end of chain, primarily compression at the start for a clean tone and then change to end of chain of using dirt or envelope to even out spikes at the end, or as a boost as I had 2 basses which were vastly different. It’s not a bad option all around
-
Or if you have a second compressor, or a compressor full stop, set it to a volume boost for the bass or basses that need it?
-
No worries so you could.......fit drop tuners to every string. They do them with switches on the far side of the tuner. E String a double drop tuner one step to Eb one step to D, all other strings down half a step at a flick. 5 banger for the B tuning. The volume boost pedal holds water still for any volume change.
-
Can you get away with a bass extender Drop tuner? may be able to give you a very quick drop tune and then only 1 retune in the set? Could then be done on 1 bass maybe 2? other option is a volume pedal like a creation Audio MK4.23. It’s a pure 24dB clean boost. Set it to a level to equalise basses and then kick it in to match the output.

@ead that socket was hammered long ago, it’s so seized up it’s like the tin man in wizard of Oz, you need more than switch cleaner there mate -
Hartke VXL is a definite option. I got mine second hand for £40.

Was that the Porn Shop version of Scarlett......You see problems at any juncture. Personally I don’t mind a vintage instrument, Joan Collins may have scratchy pots, but you expect that from her -

@Al Krow you would have said something along the lines of if you had to pay for a date with a lady and maybe get some playtime would you prefer Joan Collins now or Scarlett Johansson. -

it Is the whole feel of something. It does not have to be perfect. Sometimes that crackle, tape delay makes a song. Something with flaws is why we like it, as it speaks to us. I have many flaws, some likeable, some not so, but hopefully my Mrs likes me flaws and all as our attributes and flaws dovetail with each other. -
This gentleman is a legend to deal with, very slick and good info all the way. Deal with complete confidence

She is a quality lady, those strings are great. I have expensive taste too and have a thirst for DR DDTs, to me they are great

I am expecting VIP backstage access and a front row seat to look at your nasty donkey

@CameronJ just realised, it changed the word a s s to Donkey on this autocorrect 🤣

If you get all your tone shaping from pedals etc. Or just like the inherent tone of your bass then 2 of the best power amps out there are the Jules M700 (If you want their Monique Preamp look at the Tardis) which is 700w or the Demeter Minnie 800D which is 800w clean power. both small and light

Yes the MP3 Spotify experience gives a more compressed version, not as pleasing -
Course you like Gold Hardware, you’re in Laaaaaaaandon where the streets are paved with gold and you drink shandy although @krispn is slowly converting you

That is lovely, just lovely -
@Al Krow practically anything looks good with me playing it in front my mirror. Out of interest why do you think optically it looks bad for a PJ to be housed in a soap bar box. i am reasonably sure that roughly the day before you made that statement on the Yammy vs Spector PJ thread you thought that was an excellent idea. Did the wind change again Bazzy Poppins.....?!

The ones I have seen have had a massive audience AND like a 360 degree live experience. for those big bands, stadiums etc that may not come to these shores, or only do 1 London date, it’s not a bad option -

It has to have something to do with aesthetics and feel, the world of MP3 is a great place, so why the vinyl revival......it’s tactile, you get an album sleeve, it turns it into a listening experience rather than 20 secs and skip this track. Why do people still have wooden furniture etc. Happy to be called wrong but this tactile connection to something is important -
@CameronJand your stank donkey should know bruvva 👊🏾
